Actually there is very little difference in light on the inside BUT at the same time they block the direct sun from beaming in the glass and heating up the interior. Keeps the inside cooler longer. If you notice this praticular set only have 5 louvers which let more light in and is easier to see through vs the 6 or 7 blade type.
