It's not going to be cheap, in the same way that the ZL1 isn't cheap, and the same way that the 2012 GT500 isn't what most would consider cheap.

I'm (almost) certain the price will go up, but at around 56,300 for a base ZL1 incl. GGT, and around 49,800 for a base 2012 (no GGT), the price can go up A LOT before it's really going to be significantly more than the ZL1.

I keep seeing people say that the price increase is going to be enormous because of the power increase, but the power increase is caused by two things, boring (which doesn't technically cost anything, but you could ascribe some R&D and testing costs to it, I guess), and the TVS2300. A VMP TVS2300 is 3500 bucks, at most, and that's retail price and throwing the old Eaton M112 into the garbage. When you consider manufacturer discounts and the cost saved from the M112, the TVS2300 isn't going to cost Ford a whole lot of money. Maybe a thousand bucks. CF driveshaft? Maybe 700 bucks. Better brakes? Maybe another thousand. Better suspension? Lets give it another thousand. Stouter tranny and diff? Lets say another 700. All the coolers? Lets say another 700.

Add all that up to the base price of a 2012 GT500 and you're looking at an MSRP of under 55k. Add it to the price of a 2012 GT500 that already had the SVT performance package (53,600 IIRC) and you still only get an MSRP of around 58,700. That's only 2400 bucks more than a base ZL1.

These people saying that the GT500 is going to base at 60k+ and be upper 60s or low 70s with the two performance packages are just nuts. Smart money is putting base 2013 GT500 at slightly less than a ZL1 and, with all the performance options, slightly more than a ZL1. And I think if Ford really wanted to stick it to Chevy, they could probably do even better than that. It's rumored that the GT500 has a TON of profit built into it, I think if they really wanted to they could keep the base price right under 50k and the performance optioned price right at 55k. I don't think they will, but I think they could.

Wrong again they can't " stick it to chevy " because they don't offer it in an auto, which is half of ZL1 purchases.

that is not the shelby's figures. the order guide still has TBD for the milage info and the website is absent it as well.

pricing turned out pretty good. the website does not list the cost of the price of the track pack.

I think it is going to be about 60k to get a car with SVTPP and SVTTP.

that is still a good deal though if dealer mark up does not come into play.

so apples vs apples would be 54,995 ZL-1 to ~59.5-60k. GT500 with those two options. now add the recaro's and the nav and you will touch 64k.

ford did well on this front to offer seating and nav options even though I would aviod them based on cost. then did not come to the table with an auto for those customers. does not affect me as I would not own and auto but some people like them.

All this bickering for nothing. For 2012 the ZL1 owns the road. Ford will have to eat crow until 2013 before the will be up. Who knows what GM might do by then. Nothing says they can't ad more HP by then.

The Ford people on here can say what they want but the Bowtie Pony Car wins 2012.

So sad...and so true. It amazes me that we start paying around the 70K mark when the US price is 52,900. GM Canada certainly treats us better than Ford Canada does. Must be the higher real estate taxes in Oakville as opposed to Oshawa.

And what does more HP have to do with anything? The common misconception that bigger HP means bigger performance.

FAST ZL1 should have stated more accurately, "For 2012 model year, the ZL1 owns the road."

The 2013 ZL1 will be on the streets at the same time as the 2013 GT500.

I have to kind of agree with you for once. if they dont' get the QC hold cleared up it will be kind of hard to really call them separte model years based on 1 or 2 months.

production started mid year 2012 but when will shiping begin?? model change out is in June.

2012.8 ZL-1.
