During the early fuse pull situation I was frustrated that nothing was being dine and I was actually told BY GM that my car was fine. And after a case with my dealer and GM they called me and said congrats, there is nothing wrong with your car.

They sent a couple engineers down to south Alabama to look at one of our cars (Scott in Eufala) and when they left his car was performing the way it should. Well that got me more frustrated. It was literally a few days after we discovered the fuse pull that my dealer called me and told me they know what's wrong with my car. Of course I just told them nevermind, I got it. They asked me what I did and I told them and they told me that essentialy that's what they were going to do but with a reflash.

What irritated me is that there was never anything other than a TSB put out.

Then I realized, what else could they do? If they come out and openly say there is a problem then they cause a panic with WAAAAYYYYYY more people who would otherwise not even have a problem.

I can gaurantee you there is 10s of thousands of SS Camaros running around on the low octane table running rich and getting their asses kicked by Mustang GTs thinking that's just the way the SS Camaro is.

The top is kinda the same way.

Meaning you are absolutely correct. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

So they will take care of you but what I've learned from all of this is it just takes a TON of time to get the results to the end user.

It's nice to see someone is getting satisfaction from GM, at least they accept the fact that you do have a problem.

This morning I answered and was pleasantly surprised. I briefly explained that after my 5th bow and top replacement, my top is bulging out behind the rear passenger window and the rear windows wont stay up all the time. Also that the dealer ordered weather stripping thinking that will fix the problem but I didnt think that was the case. I also told her that from what I have read here, I will need another new top. I also inquired whether she had any info on the permanent fix and she said she did not but acknowledged that they are working on it. She also acknowledged that my top may need to be replaced one more time when the fix is released. The bottom line is 1) She apologized several times on behalf of GM/Chevy for the problems with the tops, 2)acknowledged that they are working on rectifying the problem, and 3) offered me either 2 years of on star free or two years of oil changes free for my troubles. I chose the oil changes. To me, this goes a long way in boosting my confidence in GM's customer service and also that they are working on a fix...hopefully before the spring/summer top down weather.

No Sh*t. I'm ready for the top fix, but do not want to go back and forth to the dealer a dozen times to get it right.

The permanent fix from what I gathered is a total top/mechanics/water management replacement. They will not do this unless the TSBs for the top rub doesn't work and/or you start having fifth bow issues. From what GM has been saying it is most likely that the early build 2011s will have to have a total replacement. The later 2011 and early 2012s can be fixed with the TSBs to trim/rework the brackets in most cases.
The water management fix is a new system that is being issued when problems arise.

I wonder why they just didn't replace mine then I have a very early build. Hopefully what they just did will work.
