What was the feeling when your camaro arrived?

I just want to inform you that I'm 30 mins away from my camaro. Bumble bee will be delivered at 7:30pm. Car is from michigan and will be delivered here in citrus height, california. I only got the 2lt but still I'm happy. I don't race.

My question for you guys is what was the feeling when you first got your Camaro? Is it better than a naked girl? or is it the same where in you just dive in and play with it

Btw I got manual transmission and I don't know how to drive a manual but I'm watching it in you tube now I hope this helps haha. I'm sooo excited.

Had the best drive of my life today even though the engine died a few times. I finally got it in the end and was able to drive smoothly. Even with the V6 the power is a lot i ended up going above the speed limit. I love the manual transmission the only thing i hate is I'm having a hard time at hilly area. Another thing was the attention everybody is looking at my car and then my engine died I was like :( and they were laughing.

Thank you to camaro5 for making my dream come true. Thanks to Anna Bearinger my dealer for the good deal on my TF3 2lt camaro. And thank you to whoever posted the $1000 private offer topic, that was a great saving. Ill post the only picture I got while the car was on the truck.

Try this for hills:
1. Wait at light in neutral with foot on brake
2. Just prior to light turning green, push clutch pedal and shift to first with right foot still on brake pedal
3. Push hand brake button in and pull up hand brake to hold car keeping button pushed in
4. Release brake pedal holding car in place with hand brake
5. Smoothly release clutch as you simultaneously feed gas and release hand brake
6. You're moving without worries of rolling backwards!!

Sorry if this is too elementary but just providing the technique I've used for many years.

Congrats on your new car!!

Just a couple of things. Your car is your car, your Camaro is your American Dream come true. Driving fast is great, but it does you no good to crash it; you have to be around to enjoy it. Oh, one more thing, you can replace the Camaro, you can't replace you. Enjoy the 'High Performance'! I was a kid at Christmas time. People asked me what I got for Christmas, I said 'My Camaro!' with a Permagrin!

Just remember, more clutch than gas to stop. Then more gas than clutch to go.

Try not to 'ride' the clutch. Riding the clutch is; having your L foot on the clutch pedal once the clutch engages the flywheel(you should now be feeding the engine fuel with the accelerator).

On the freeway it seems like it is easy to ride the clutch but fight the temptation. You have a 'Cheater's Pedal' located a little below and to the left of the clutch pedal for this very reason.

Once you've let the clutch back in, keep the L foot off the clutch pedal until you are ready to shift again. Just move your L foot to the 'Cheater's Pedal' when you'll be in the gear for a bit.

I can't say when it all takes place, but you are going to have to get the feel and timing down just by going out and driving.

I have been driving manual transmissions since 1980-81 probably. My first car was a '72 Pinto with an automatic, my 2nd and 3rd vehicles were manual; a '72 Nova and an '86 Ranger. Both had similar characteristics but each was different for different reasons. I will say this, I had to 're-learn' how to drive a manual when I got behind the wheel of my Camaro. The shift was so short in the Camaro I just had to get used to it. You can also have two of the same car but they may be adjusted slightly different. Now you might ask is this good or bad. Well neither, it's just different. I think once you get your feel and timing down, you'll be a pro. It should probably take you one month maybe two at the most. One thing for sure, you are going to like the manual over the automatic, I think. You will feel in control, you will feel connected to the road and you will actually pay attention to your driving. I think automatic transmissionss do a disservice to drivers in that the automatic transmission gives the driver a false sense control. And when a situation comes up they are totally unprepared. Sorry that last bit was my opinion. Anyway, Hope you have fun in your new GM product(Camaro)!

@lawman thanks for the tip bro! Yeah i think it will take me at least a month before i become very familiar with the manual transmission. I was practicing earlier for the parking because that's the most important. Now i can see why people is like going to v8 once you feel the power of v6 it will consume you and will be wanting more but for me this is enough.

I failed my smog test they said i should at least add more mileage to the car then try again.

Honestly when I first started driving manual trannies I would dump the clutch on a hill, spin tires and get looked at stupid lol. (beats rolling backwards into another car).

Best advice I give anyone driving a manual is find a flat spot (driveway, deserted parking lot, etc.) put the car in first gear, take foot off the gas, and release the clutch slowly until you feel the car start to move. repeat that a couple times until you get a feel for when the clutch engages / disengages.

once you know where your foot should be on the pedal start doing take offs and stops for a while.

then go find a seldomly driven road with a steep hill and try and try again until you can take off with minimal "Roll".

sorry for long post lol.
