So their special testing procedure is just launching it and shifting hard? How long did it take them to develop that?

Great responses, thanks. I believe that's exactly what we were concerned about, a grinding during shifting.

Is it only on upshift? Just curious.

Yes, upshift only. FWIW, mine's a late model 2011 and shifts like butter.

Mine will be a little tempermental when cold, but I don't drive it in cold weather that much. My biggest concern was to try and get a smoother and faster shift into 2nd and 3rd at the drag strip. I have tried the Red Line D4 ATF fluid in the trans. with good results so far.
Only the GT500 uses the Tremec. The GT uses some piece of crap MT-280 I believe. It's had lots of issues.

Anyone that actually "drives" the car will tell you there are difficulties shifting in higher RPM's, especially with aggressive driving. For example you may go from 2nd. to 3rd. and miss a shift because it just won't go into gear unless you let off the accelerator to lower the RPM's a bit.
Happens to me almost all the time, I can easily reproduce the problem launching and then shifting at 4k+ RPM.
Now if you're going to the grocery store or just cruising around town shifting at 2.5k RPM you'll never have a problem, but if you're like most people that purchase the Camaro because you're a driver, you'll experience this notchy, sticky shifting issue.

There is a whole bunch of threads and complaints about it. Seems to be a few things, nobody really sure but lots of people rebuilding their trannys to resolve the issue. Some are just plain replacing the whole TR6060 with something else.

33k miles on mine and while a little notchy it doesn't grind even when shifting at redline. I'm just glad I don't have that grind some have experienced.

Which gears are you readline shifting in, must have been lucky and got the high end prototype version of the tranny, before they started to cheap out on the internal parts.

I have the exact same experience. I've never had a grind, but it's so notchy that it won't let me shift NEARLY as fast as this guy in the video.

Guys! If you have a notchy trans with no grind issues change your fluid to royal purple or redline fluid and remove the pins in the shifter bracket, pop the bracket out of the trans then reinstall the shifter bracket and pins back onto the trans. A lot of times the shifter bracket needs to be moved around and reinstalled to releive some of the notchy feel. This trans is definitely notchy in general but adjusting the shifter bracket sometimes helps.

Those of you with grind issues at low rpm take it to the dealer and have them replace the whole trans.

Those of you with grind issues at high rpm only make sure you press that clutch pedal hard to the floor when shifting and you will most likely notice it wont grind. The master cylinder isnt flowing enough fluid to completely disengage the clutch. Im working on a solution to this problem and its going to take me some time to get done.

Shifter bracket???

IDEALG, can you go into a little more detail about how to remove to pins on the shifter bracket, and put it back in. I have the grind issue that I will change the fluid myself to try and fix. And the notchy shifter, (Hurst) and would like to try and fix that. I am not a mechanic, but learning as I go. So if its a tough job I may not try it.

The V6 and GT use a Getrag MT82 built in China and it's a train wreck. They're lemoning mine next Tues so I'm also very interested in the 1-2/2-3 Tremec grind. Anyone with a new 2012 experiencing issues? I can't go through another manual transmission nightmare with my next car.
