Retro-fit 2011 parts to 2012?

I seem to remember seeing a thread asking if the 2010/2011 steering wheel could be fitted to a 2012 model, but I can't find it now. I recently lost my 2011 SS in an accident and can't find another 2010/2011 SS, black, manual anywhere! I've had dealerships looking for me for the past week. The main reason I don't like the 2012 models is because of the steering wheel and the font changes they made to the gauges. Can I take the steering wheel form the earlier models as well as the instrument panel and fit it to a 2012 model? I'm sorry, but that steering wheel is just... horrible in my opinion.

Yes you will need to do a dash swap I am on the other boat I want to upgrade my 2010 dash and steering wheel to the 2012.

Yes you can swap the steering wheel & speedo/tach between the model years. The speedo/tach just then needs to be programmed to your vehicle.

A lot of people say this until they drive the 2012s....then they like the feel of the new steering wheel.

As for the guages, I like the change but I have the HUD so I don't ever look at them anyway.

OK, I'm afraid to ask, but what all doe that entail? How much of the dash are we talking about?

Just the gauge cluster.....thats all.

Everyone hates it until they drive it. I don't see the problem with the 2012 steering wheel. In my opinion it's sportier, easier to handle, more ergonomic, etc.

Plus it doesn't look like a pie bowl.

Well then, I'll stay in touch with you man. Maybe we can work something, out. Car hunting now, and I can't seem to find ANY black, manual SS models in the entire state of GA! Either Chevy didn't send enough down here, or Camaros are as good of a car as I thought. Looks like I may end up buying a 2012 version.

Ok, just for the record, my beef is with the look of the wheel. I'll be willing to bet you are correct about its functionality. But why, for the love of all that is holy, would you put a steering wheel found on the Chevy Volt (cheapo) into something as glorious as a Camaro? I liked the chrome accent trim in the circle and the actual name "Camaro" too. It was loud and in your face; the very spirit of a Camaro They also changed the font and needles on the gauges. That's just personal preference to me. I like the fonts better on the old one.

Just to show different strokes for different folks, I avoided the 10 and 11 partially because of the steering wheel and gauge font. While the 2012 font is better, I still don't like the orientation of the numbers. I'd prefer a horizontal alignment rather than a radial alignment.

Quick search on autotrader and I found 5 2010's within 25 miles from me. Looked farther away from you?

Did you know the steering wheel that was in my dads 07 corvette is the same exact one that is on our 2009 hhr minus the little center emblem
