New !ss/RS owner & member

Hi All, I was originally in the market for a a Boss 302 but there were no deals to be had within my price range so I took a chance & visited a local Chevy dealer to see what was up in Camaro-land.
Drove a killer orange/black stripes 1SS/RS & just had to have it. Made the deal the next day & currently have 200 or so miles on it...pleasure drive car as my Mazda2 is the daily workhorse.
I've been reading thru the forum here & see a lot of talk about catch cans, oil consumption, break in, rings sealing properly ..etc. NOW I'm a bit concerned if I'll be having problems & hopefully made the right decision & if I'm driving it properly during the break in period.

I guess it's just new car paranoia but I'm lovin this Camaro & hope to be problem free.

Great info on the forum & hope to contribute as I learn & drive !

Congratulations!...Enjoy it!!...Yeah, if I had it to do over again, I would have made sure I did the short burst thing, just to be safe...but I think I did enough, and am fine...don't stress out over it too much...good luck and enjoy the car!

There are some issues, but being careful during break in seems to be the best remedy for the situation. I'm currently in the break in myself (172 miles on car now). Being soft on her is your best bet. Just follow what chevy says and if there are any issues, warranty is always there!

Thanks guys. These really are striking cars & lots of thumbs up. Plus, seems like like you can throw a rock & hit a mustang at any time...too many on the road....yawn.

I notice these cars run relatively hot. I've hit 221 in traffic & then the fans kick on & cool it off a bit....normal I suppose.

Thanks again for the welcome!

alan, CONGRATS on the ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
