$635 a month? For a v6? What was the length of the loan?

I wouldn't pay $635/month for ANYTHING. It is always said that you should never buy a car unless you can afford to lose your job and be able to afford all of your bills + the car for 12 months until you can find another source of solid income. What did you put down on it? Did you take an approach like this?

This seems like a case of someone getting in over their head just because you "wanted" the car even though you couldn't swing it financially in the long term.

I can't feel pity for you. People lose their jobs everyday, and our economy is lucky that SOME think ahead of situations that don't require them selling everything to keep their head above water. Heck, if you were in that bad of shape, you should have had a for sale sign on the car the moment you realized you were in dire situations.

Might as well stick around, maybe whoever buys your car at auction will come on here and talk about what a steal he got, then you can tell him about theK&N filter.
Why did you take the car to them? I much rather seen you been Licked on tv.

Man that certainly does suck. I hate that for you but you did the right thing you don't want your credit fall to far down. Hang in there, stay positive and maybe someday you'll have another. Its not the end of the world just the end of that.

When you get back on your feet, look for a used Camaro, even a 3rd or 4th Generation? No matter what you decide, there is no reason to leave here.
I was on here for a year before I owned a Camaro.
Good folks, and good info.
Im sorry if I got confusing. It was the middle of the night, while I'm dealing with a chest cold, so my posts aren't structured too good. Someday......maybe 5, 6-10, or 12 years from now, whenever it is that I can afford a car again; I can have all of my cash saved up and either get another Camaro. But I am being tempted too from my depression, to save up all of my cash on some hot Mercades sports car. But all of those thoughts are from the fact of just having withdrawls and being really depressed & sad. I dont know what I will get or when, I have to think about if I need to buy a new semi-truck by then too. At the moment, I am just affording my rent and bills for the next 2-3 years. The $635 car payment was for 5 years and I did put some money down, while I traded in my Harley for it. The problems were that I owed a little more money than I thought for my Harley when the dealer bought it from me; and the dealer didnt quite get the selling price they wanted for my Harley from the customer. Plus my credit wasn't too good, only one bank gave me credit, so all that pushed the payments way high. It's kind of complicated, and it gets me more depressed trying to remember why my payments were $110 higher than I liked a month; but I did have a loaded out Camaro too. I only needed a V8 to make it an SS RS. I hope this makes sence, I am not trying to get anyone upset with me again.

Your conscience is clear. Although your pride might be a littled dented right now, know that you can carry yourself with pride and dignity. You found yourself in a near-impossible financial situation and faced up to it but you WILL be able to look at yourself in the mirror and know you did the right thing. I understand it's a bit of a "downer" you probably feel bad and depressed but there is no need for you to feel bad about yourself.

Stay on the forum, continue to read about the Camaro and don't hesitate to share your Camaro experiences. You've been here long enough to know there will always be someone who can benefit from it. Don't forget, the forum can also serve as your "support" group.

Thanks Angie, but right now, I dont have any money at all for another car. It will take me a good couple of years or so to try and save up for your Pontiac. Even though I drive a Peterbilt, I dont have a good way to get to southern Indiana to get the car from you. I have to get done with Credit Consolidation first, that will take about 2-3 years. I appreciate your thoughts.

$635/month...? What did you put down on the car when you got it, 20 bucks?

I mean sad story and all, and I hope you get back on your feet soon, but maybe you should have put some money down up front to lower your payments...

Anyways, stay around the forums. Unless it's too hard for you to see everyone else's rides all the time.

I don't know what Licked on tv is, but it doesn't seem like it would be a happy or positive experience for me. I don't think I would be interested in that.

Like someone else had stated if this ever happens again or to anyone else try to sell it yourself. At $635 a month I would have first tried to re finance the car for 6yrs or more. With what you had already paid you could have got payments maybe around $450 a month. Once again better luck to you in the future.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Everybody goes through some hard times. Keep your head up and it'll get better-- and ignore the haters on here. It doesn't matter what we think of how high your car payment was; you're hurting right now and it's pretty insensitive of people to be such jerks.

It'll be okay, man. Think ahead to the new body style in 2015, and start saving money now.

If you think you will not be able to keep the payments up on your car, before you talk to the bank about repo options (which not only will incur the charges and difference in auction selling price to you but also slam your credit rating), first try to sell the car yourself. Put a for sale sign on it, ask high blue book, but be willing to come down some if you're close to not making payments.

This way when the person buys it from you they're paying the bank directly, and then all you will be on the hook for is the difference if there is any (depending on what kind of interest rate you're paying and how much you put down)

But try selling it first before even thinking about the repo option. As SixGracing mentioned, the bank will now put it up for auction and there's a very good chance it will go for less than what you could have sold it for yourself. The bank will hold you for the difference anyway.

It's better to try to sell it yourself.
Well, I had my older brother hollar and yell down on me for months about the exact same things you just mentioned. Since I drive a semi-truck over the road, I am gone for a month or so at a time. So theres really no way or time to just put a "For Sale" sign in the window and wait for the phone to ring or the emails to come in, while the payments were still way past due. It would be extremely difficult to try and haggle over the phone with potential buyers and the bank while I am driving a semi-truck downtown with traffic trying to make a delivery appointment; I would probably have a wreck or two.
