Timing my order just right - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey guys,

Been lurking for a couple weeks now, seen the "how long to get my camaro if I order now," "how long is the current wait," place in line, etc etc.

However, I haven't seen a question where you want to get in line, but you don't want to get a Camaro EARLY. My problem is I'll be deploying in late July, thusly making a Camaro order now worthless as it'll indoubtably be done in less than 10 months.

I'd really like to have it arrive a week after I get back from my deployment to ensure that they don't pull any monkey business with my car. Demo car, show room car, subject to hail/wind/hurricane damage...my fears go on and on.

My guess is that I'll just need to continue lurking and watching the climate on times for orders and have my wife submit my order prior to return. (My wife isn't any good with a manual transmission yet, and I don't want it sitting in my appartment parking lot).

Anyone know if there's a garunteed delivery date style deal when I can project it almost a year out?

GM is really good about getting the orders out quickly and delivered within 6-8 weeks of the date it was submitted to them (the launch of the Camaro being a little different due to the massive amounts of preorders).

Is there anybody else that you could trust to hold onto your camaro and keep it covered in a garage until you got back?

Unfortunately, I'm almost a thousand miles from what I call home, so my parents wouldn't be able to put it their garage. I may just be SOL.
