Boost controller

I sold my whipple to fund my other project, but this car without boost is no fun to drive. So, I have decided to go with a turbo this round. Right now I'm just researching and getting all the small things I will need. So, was wondering which boost controller would be best to use? It will just be a single turbo setup.

I use the Greddy Profec B II. Others have decided to go with the AMS-1000, and theirs always the Turbosmart eBoost2.

+1........ Eboost 2 is enough for must people..... The ultimate would be the ams 1000 for an all out build.

Yes it is but if you can afford it in your build it is nice to have as if you ever upgrade in the future you will have the controller to handle anything you can throw at it.

AMS-1000 since the promised AMS-2000 isn't available yet...

Not to hijack the thread, but if boost is changed via controller, do you have to retune or does the PCM adjust itself?

What he said...but if you are good with your build, pocket the diff.

Yeah, they have been saying 'soon' for 2+ years

If your PCM is utilizing manifold pressure and tuned properly it should be fine (up to the capacity/duty cycle of your injectors, fuel pump(s) and MAP sensor - 2 bar, 3 bar, etc.)

Any testing with the AMS yet robert? I've been thinking about upgrading once i can turn up the boost, but $1k is steep for a boost controller.

No, there is no testing performed yet.... We are still looking for time to get the trans into the car, which is going to take a bit of engineering and then get everything else buttoned up...

We'll drive without input from the Boost controller to make sure the driveline is good to go before trying to pump up the bass...

IF all is good with the driveline, then we'll tie in the boost controller, which should already have the hardware mounted, and get her on the dyno and start running her through her paces...

We'll find the limits of boost, and set the boost controller based on pump gas, and max boost with the fuel ratio considerations being the driving force... We will then add in race fuel and see what we can do with timing... and see where she goes... so there will be two tunes...

Then the final leg of the prep will be to add a 200-250 wet shot of nitrous and set an "on-kill" tune strictly for the track... This will be for high octane in the tank and the wet shot at max variable boost... This is my rudimentary understanding of the process, and is certainly not gospel... That's why I have Corey... He is the brain and master of my build...

We have two kind of long loose fitting looms and it is down in the center console... This way you can lift it out to set it... If you've never held one. it's just a bit bigger than a deck of cards...
