Paint Correction Progress

Alrighty. I got my Adam's products to fix my dealer's mess (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204910) delivered yesterday, so I spent my whole day going at this paint correction. It is very time consuming, but I'm seeing great results so far. I'm not even close to being done with everything, but here's some before and "after" (current) pics of the problem areas.

Jesus, I do not envy you. That's a two week job at least. That section looks great. Told you you could do it

You're taping off your vinyl edges first right?

I started out that way to be safe, but when the buffer would go over the tape (the edges when I would go to the edge) it would fling so much "dust" and also made the bottom pad look really bad along the outer portion. I was worried the tape was causing that. I have been told that these glossy stripes can handle being polished and waxed, so I took the tape off and things started going much smoother. I'm not going over the stripe or anything, so I don't think I'll have problems.

I guess that's what I get for going cheap and buying a brand new car... oh wait.

Nice work. Just take your time and before you know it your car will look awesome. Just be sure to take it back to that idiot dealer when you're done and tell them this is how it should be done.

You will get polish build up under the edges and could cause the stripes to lift a little at the edges. However, it's your call. The tape isn't going to hurt a thing. I like to tape off all rubber trim as well, such as around the windows.

I had everything taped off, but it really seemed to be making it do weird. I'll re-tape it all again before I start tomorrow. Better safe than sorry. (I'm leaning more and more towards painted stripes...)

Hmm..you're using blue painters tape? I'm not sure what the issue could've been. The tape should give before the pad does. Sometimes I'll lift an edge of tape, but never had a problem with my pads. And the dusting is from using too much polish. It's clogging up the pores.

He should absolutely pay your bill. It is so sad that car dealerships that sell brand new cars haven't figured out how to detail them.

"This is completely normal for a black car. You're expecting too much."
"Anyone who says they can make this look any better is just wanting to steal your money."

He also explained how cars only swirl free when they first come out of the factory, but as soon as they are driven they look like this. "Even if you get it perfect somehow, you drive it down the road a few times and you're back to this."

Dude's an absolute moron. My car has 30,000 miles and has never looked less than 95% perfect.

I feel like I got a really bad deal here... I bought a brand new car to have a brand new car. Now I'm having to spend a lot of money and a whole lot of time to get it where it should have been to begin with.
