9 months, no issues so far Signed the petition a long time ago - probably worthless though. I will not drill my front bumper! Period! I will attach it some other way iff (If & only If) I get a fix-it ticket

Okay without a doubt this is no disrespect to TAG, as I have come to greatly respect him in this forum
I don't know NorcalSS at all, but he only has 4 posts, so I'll hold judgment. (Esspecially since I might get pulled over by him some day).

But I want to say this. You both mention how you hate being stereotyped. I am right there with you. Every time I have ever been pulled over, the officer who has pulled me over has right off the bat stereo typed me. Regardless of what I am wearing. Meaning I could be wearing blue jeans and a Jack Daniels Whiskey t-shirt or a full suit for work and I get the same treatment every time. Especially from the CA Hwy. Patrol. They can be some of the most arrogant, inconsiderate people I have ever met. I know they deal with a-holes most of the day but seriously give a man a chance. Of half the times I have been pulled over I was guilty and I id nothing and was still treated like a P.O.S. The other half I had done nothing wrong and I was pulled over for the hell of it, and I speak up and ask what I was pulled over for, then they get really rude and talk down to me and won't let me get a word in edgewise. I have fought every single one of those, I have only won 1. All the others I just paid the fine because I knew I was guilty. But what drives me nuts is that I go to plead my case before the judge and the judge does not give a rats butt about what you have to say. I have come in with photographic evidence, and descriptions of the turns that Radar supposedly went around to track me doing 75 on a 35 turn in a lifted Toyota PU... Yeah right... and they don't care to see it or discuss it. I got one ticket at 7:55, the officer said he calibrated his radar prior to going on duty at 8. I asked him where he calibrated it. He said "I don't recall, but what does that matter?" I said well if you did it back at the station before your shift started at 8 how did you ticket me at 7:55, or did you start early and calibrate it on the side of the road out in the middle of nowhere? The judge did not care that the officer was just stating some typical BS as to why his Radar is so accurate blah blah. I also came in with back up for inaccurate their Radar is and can be in certain situations (my father and grandfather were both Radar techs for the government for over 30 years each, I think they know quite a bit more than a CHP who has been on the beat for a few years who learned how to manipulate their stories to make anyone look guilty.) That all being said. I hate being stereotyped and I try not to do it to officers as I meet them (I won't even go into incidents with having to call the Sheriff on a guy who came into my house and acted like he lived there and the Sheriff wouldn't remove him because he threw a bag of clothes all out in my living room...)

But again with all that said. I signed, just in case.

I hate having a front plate on...

AND....FURTHERMORE, if people were to obey traffic laws (ie: NOT RUNNING RED LIGHTS), traffic accidents would decrease DRAMATICALLY.

The whole purpose behind red light cameras is misconstrued to be a money generator for the city. Everyone thinks "redlight cameras??? Just another way to screw over the common man and take his money." The purpose of red light cameras are to force people to slow down and not ....RUN RED LIGHTS. What is the main purpose? To prevent (or try to deter) traffic accidents. HELLO?!?!?!

YOU don't work the streets and YOU don't see the amount of accidents we work EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY (many of which happen because people run red lights!!!)

So keep on believing that red light cameras are ONLY there to hit you in the pocket book....and MAYBE one day someone will see that redlight camera as they are approaching the intersection and go "CRAP!!!!" as they hit the brakes slowing down and stopping as YOU go passing through the intersection avoiding getting T-boned.

Sure....keep complaining about traffic laws. They are there to save your life, the lives of those in the car with you, and the lives of everyone else on the road.

And no...I don't deal with red light cameras in my city. Yes, it's civil and not criminal. Avoid the problems altogether by slowing and stopping.

Front license plate issue......

Fine. Don't put a front license on your new Camaro. When your Camaro is stolen and it's behind me on the parkway while I'm in my patrol vehicle, I'll run that front license plate......wait, there is NO front license plate????.....shoot, well, forget it because I can't get a plate so I can't run it and once again, they get away turning off behind me before I can get the back plate. But it's okay because you didn't want to put that front license plate on there anyway.

RANT OVER.

Sorry bout this rant.....but I see it everyday. I see the accidents and the people who are at fault for them because they fail to (or refuse to) obey traffic laws. I have seen the people who die on our roads because others ran a red light. I have seen the dad and his son who went out to get ice cream and when on the way home, got t-boned by someone who was speeding trying to make the red light. When someone tells me that red light cameras are ONLY put there to generate money, I say BULL SH!T.

i agree with you, people should obey the laws don't run red lights etc. i got my OTHER car wrecked because someone thought the STOP SIGN was a suggestion.

on the issue with a front plate, if my Camaro gets stolen i'll just call On*Star and have them disable the vehicle.. thats what they advertise, right? besides i doubt the thieves are stupid enough to leave the real plates on the car anyway....

All I am going to say, is that I live in Michigan. We don't require a front plate.
My wife was carjacked in 2007. Her 2007 Malibu was successfully recovered that night despite having no front plate.

Damn druggies.

signed the petition. i don't care what anybody says, this stupid law has to be gone. why is it in only in certain states huh? last time i checked we were the United States of America, one united country. every state should have the same laws. California is a sh!thole right now, fckin hate it..can't wait till i move out. why does california require a front plate while another state does not?

in conclusion, i can sum up this paragraph in a few words: F\/<K THE GOVERNMENT and SOME police officers

Yup, you told me about it and I have it ready to order once I get my Camaro. 150.00 thats it, it can either be put on with screws on the underside of the front bumber or with double sided tape.

I hate the front plate law, as well as tint. The only two I wish would be gone. However it will not be taken off because of the money those two laws make for the cities. After correcting the problem it will still cost you between 25 to 35 dollars. Depending on wether or not you have been hit before. Thats a lot of easy money for the cities all around California that are broke. I think its wrong for people to be sitting here trying to bash our police officers. I have had my issues with them, and some times I feel I was unfairly treated. However that is just how it works, and trying to make them out to be really aweful people is just plain wrong. Sign the petition and support the others that have signed and maybe we can win one for the people. Becuase just plain crying about it won't solve the issue. And for those crying about camara lights..... Don't run them. Plain and simple. Remember if you have time to step on it to speed up, you have time to slow down to a stop.

An alternative to drilling...

Haven't gone through every post on this thread so this may already have been mentioned, but in case it hasn't, a copy named JacFab offers a plate mount that attaches using the middle bolts mounting the bumper to the front end, and has a stainless steel bracket arm that floats the plate in front of the bumper, either bent or flat, your choice. No drilling or cutting required.

You found a old thread lol. Cheaper ways to mount a front plate than using jacfab. Mine cost me #2.00.

2 of these thru the lower grille and your good.
