I understand that. What I am thinking is there was a point that the color of the caliper was related to the number of pistons on either the CTS-V or a Vette. i.e. C6 had four pots with red calipers and the Z06 had six pots with yellow calipers... Fen? #3?

I've got some mixed emotions and concerns about the performance direction we are going in...they redesign some suspension components, change the gear sets in the Tremec and rear axle ratio, beef up the SS axel shafts...things for the 1LE, which shoulda just been an SS upgrade, option or model year improvement for the SS... and nothing done with powerplant....electric steering? Thats old and passe....not big news....we really didn't need a new "Edition" for these things. Also I suggest they may want to reconsider who is doing graphics, or color schemes with these "Edition" models as well. Too much fluff, but that's just my opinion. GM please: Stay on the intiative, engage and maintain contact with the enemy. It's not time to be cautious, or be concerned with the kiddie menu. Let's get 'er done Chevy.

That is why they made it an option and not a Z/28

I understand your point BUT a very high percentage of SS buyers aren't looking for the track capability that the 1LE hardware brings OR the cost increase that goes along with it. To simply make it an annual improvement you would have to hold your base price. Also there are CAFE implications if you made it part of the base SS package or at least EPA rammifications that would impact the mileage on the sticker.

That extra heavy duty hardware isn't free.

Im not sure about your graphics concern. Fender stripes and a black hood is pretty tame and at least to me not very offensive.

I'm hoping it's a wrap that I'll be able to remove to find paint underneath. If they come out with a nice blue I'll want to see it, not hide it. And as far as I know, there are no fender hash marks.

I don't mind being corrected but I'm pretty sure that's the concept. If you look on the first page of the 1LE release thread there is a grainy rendering that shows what the production 1LE will look like. There are also no side skirts or black mirrors. To my knowledge no actual pics of the 1LE have been shown yet.
