A n/a 5.4 4V engine with a compression ratio the same as the LS3 would likely make about 385HP/385TQ, so I'd say the LS3-powered Camaro would edge the GT500. There is no substitute for cubic inches.

Although I will openly admit I am biased towards the Camaro from the start, I'm just tired of blind fanboyism, and this is pointless to compare/debate. First of all, you can't really compare a car that starts around 30k, with one that is around 49k (I know these numbers aren't exactly right, and the GT500 may have some extra options, but I'm in a hurry and you get my point). We KNOW the GT500 is faster, as it should be for ~19k more. Of course a car that is a lot cheaper from the start but less hp will come out ahead when you have the aftermarket to make up the difference, as aftermarket parts are always cheaper (eventually) than OEM, so it's not a far comparison for ANY cars to do it this way. Also, Camaro has usually always had a premium price over comparable Mustangs, so we can safely say that if there is ever a Z28, it will probably be 50-52k, have similar options as the GT500, but be a little faster. Until then, let's stop comparing cars that shouldn't be compared.

v6 mustang-v6 camaro=camaro
mustang gt-camaro ss=camaro
gt500-no competition yet, as corvette is in a completely different class

No, I read the thread, I just think it's pointless to compare a completely stock car to a modded car. Do you not agree?

We're comparing a GT500 which is supercharged, to a supercharged Camaro SS.
I think it's pretty fair, considering that the cost for the parts and labor of the Camaro would come close to the price of the Shelby.

I get what your saying. But this thread is camparable.. but there has been many other threads where GT500 is still compared with is pointless and stupid.

I can go in a mustang GT forum and compare it stock vs stock with the SS..

or go in a GT500 forum and compare it with the corvette..

I can't say I care about how fast the GT500 is. I'm morally opposed to buying a $50k Mustang (or Camaro!). For the price of a GT500, I can buy a brand new SS, a gas sippin' econo car to drive to work and take a round trip vacation to Hawaii!!!

Here in the MIA, I just saw a V6 Maro for a sticker of 29.9k. I am not sure what size tires or package you guys get, but it did not seem it had all of the "goodies" in it....

Do you guys really believe you will get a SS (in some areas) for less than mid 40's ? Out the door ?

Guys, just to let you know, a stock 2010 GT500 dynoed at about 490rwhp, which equates to about 575 Crank HP, so they are underrated by 30-40 HP.

The CAI's actually added around 60 HP on the 07-09's. I saw that close to 490 number on a mustang website I'm on.
