If it aint one thing....
its another.
so after the transmission/drive shaft incident, we got a new u-joint and actual straps for the d/s. we got the trans shifter bracket from our trans builder and installed it (tho the linkage will be replaced tues). it was getting late and we had just gotten everything hooked up. I asked josh if he wanted to drive her around without fear of the d/s falling out. he said no, I told him, "ok, then I will" ![]() handed him the camera.... and fired her up. and now we have a blown head gasket..... Josh has new head gaskets ordered, and new head bolts (it currently has studs installed.... never again). and tuesday and wednesday afternoon we will be replacing those and adding the new shifter cable as well as a few other final touches. (dash wiring, headlight wiring, fuel press gauge, new throttle return brackets/springs, final adjustments on the TV cable and she should be good to go. stay tuned. *edit* just got off the phone with josh.... his Cherry Bomb Glasspacks came in the mail today..... this bistach is going to roar!!! (moreso than it already does)

actually, Josh built most of it in his dorm room when he was still living on the base. but the rest has been done in random parking lots.
I live in a town house with no garage and the base is an equal distance for either of us to drive. carbd LS1

Just got off the phone with Josh. he's got the passenger side head off the car.... and when he was pulling the coil packs to unbolt the intake manifold....... he found that the #8 spark plug wire had come off.
so in addition to a blown head gasket and having the car in gear.... she was only running on 7 cyls. she wants to live. 7 cyls, in gear, coolant leak... and she still fires up. gotta love it.

so we've got a little bit of "fabricating" to do for a new trans x-member as the one that we ordered specifically for this swap isnt going to cut it anymore.
this x-member and adjustable t/a is planned once the S60 comes in ![]() Josh is going to finish up the pass side today then head home. tomorrow he's going to get to work on the driver's side. then tues we are both free till around 7 oclock at night so we will be able to knock out the final touches and get her back on the road to take to the trans shop to properly adjust the TV cable.

I got all the Spohn stuff in my 83 and it handles beautifully. Though I had to cut off my d/s loop for my LT's to work with the T-56. The loop interfered with my y-pipe. I might get the lakewood universal one that mounts on the body and make that work.

Spike -
This is the FUN part of building cars/engines... You will be telling stories about this for years to come. You'll get all the bugs worked out. Just the way it is. Hell, we all used to build engines in the strangest places. Gotta make due with what is available. Damn, if you weren't so far away, I'd lend you my race trailer to work in. At least it would be A/C and air tools. Good luck. |

we are hoping to get it a little quieter until we open the cutouts. might have to double up the exhaust to keep it quiet for the sleeper sound.Quote:
oh, I know, we've been slowly working on this car for the better part of 2 years now. but finances, time, TDY's, and other cars/priorities have come into play. if either of us had a garage, it would have been done a while back, but its a 20 mile drive for either of us and in charleston, it'll be sunny and bright here, and 10 miles away there's a hailstorm, tornado and lightning everywhere. ![]() you should make a vacation up here so I can borrow your trailer.
