When I bought my 2010 camaro, I traded in a 2002 Ols Alero in on it. That left me with the Camaro and a 2004 Duramax. Driving these two all the time and the truck only in winter was eating up alot of $$ on fuel. I decided in the spring of 2011 to buy a new 2011 Chevy Cruze.

The savings in fuel cost was more then enough to make the monthly payments on the Cruze and allows me to stop putting miles on the camaro and keep the truck (+$4 per gallon for diesel) driven only when needed.

Again, the cost of fuel savings was more then enough to pay for the Cruze. Now granted, this is a base model Cruze but still it is a great little car and 32-34 mpg is hard to complain about.

We had a 2000 Blazer like yours only it was a 4WD. Drove it for 8 years it was a good truck. We also had an 08 Trailblazer both were nice and dependable but gas hogs. That Trailblazer with the V6 got about the same gas mileage as my 5.3 V8 Silverado.

Now we drive the Camaro in the nice weather and we got a 2002 Escape as a winter beater. It works out well we put between 10 to 12k on the Camaro and 4 to 5K on the Escape.

I thought of doing that, getting a back up, but what the heck? you only live once, drive the Camaro, you are really going to be pining for getting back in to the Camaro, it is going to be hard every day when you head off to work and not be in the Camaro. Just my .02 cents

I already had a 2007 Equinox. It's my daily driver and bad weather car. Camaro has almost 15,000 miles and I got it in Oct of 2010. It's my fair weather car....and it's been on the Hot Rod Power Tour, Tail of the Dragon twice, Talladega, Pony Wars, Columbus, winery tour of the N Georgia Mountains, she gets around! I think it's wise to have a car you can take to the store, to work, etc. At my place of business you can never predict when the landscape folks are coming, and they beat cars to death with the stuff they kick up...........no thanks!

I bought my Camaro knowing it would not be a DD, 16 months old 9000 miles on it. To be honest I'm shocked I have that many miles on it.

She has never seen the rain or snow, and I hope to keep it that way.

Yeah, I couldnt do it. I cant even have two pairs of jeans lol, Ill always wear the ones that are less worn out/fit better.

I could never leave the camaro at home, unless it was some awful stormy day. Especially with a 2ss being so expensive, I cant afford another car lol.
I live in the south, so winter doesnt even really exist

Sounds like a good move! I have often toyed with the idea of getting a second car so I can keep the Camaro nice. I work in construction, I dont haul anything but myself in the Camaro, but after work I climb in with my work cloths on. Also, on these cold, crappy Seattle winters it would be nice to have something to drive in the slop and snow.

I am lucky enough to live on the bus line and take the bus to jobs as much as possible, but some job sites are not on a bus line and I end up having to drive, and sometimes parking is a big muddy pit next to an unfinished building.

Anyway, congrats on a smart move. It will just make those days you can take the Camaro that much sweeter!

Good move on your part. Keeps the wear and tear down on you Camaro. And like others have mentioned, you will really enjoy getting in and driving you car the times you take it out for a spin. I recently bought me a new DD. Well not new now, but was in 87 lol

I have a 2000 ZR2 S10 pickup and I LOVE IT! In fact, I will pass 200K miles next week and I have only put $700 in parts into it. The 4.3L V6 is a great engine, the intake gaskets are a bit weak, but when they go bad, replace them with a high quality set, you shout be good for another 100K miles.

I feel your pain... I also drive 96 miles a day and live in the country down a 1 mile dirt road. I poke along at 5MPH (1st gear idle) and it takes about 12 minutes to travel the 1 mile. I have many alternate vehicles to drive however; I don't enjoy driving them. After having my C5 SS for a year now, I crave the attention it attracks. When I drive an alternate (ie. Jeep, diesel truck or Mustang), it just doesn't feel the same. No looks, no stares or smiles and the drive seems so boring. As a matter of fact, my Camaro get better gas mileage than my other rides.

I've put down 35K miles in my first 14 months. It doesn't bother me that I am racking up the miles, I am enjoying every one!
