This is a copy of the letter you will receive...

April 2012

Dear General Motors Customer:
We have learned that your 2011 or 2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro, equipped with a
convertible top, may have a condition in which the headliner corner support bracket may
contact or tear the convertible top when the top is in down position, and may have wind noise at
the front and/or rear quarter glass.
Your satisfaction with your Camaro is very important to us, so we are announcing a program to
prevent this condition or, if it has occurred, to fix it.

What We Will Do: Your GM dealer will modify the corner support bracket to eliminate the
possibility of a tear in the convertible top, and will install wind-proofing material and adjust a
tension spring to eliminate the wind noise. This service will be performed for you at no charge
until April 30, 2014. After that, any applicable warranty will apply.

What You Should Do: To limit any possible inconvenience, we recommend that you contact
your dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for this repair. By scheduling an
appointment, your dealer can ensure that the necessary parts will be available on your
scheduled appointment date.

*** You should wait until you receive your letter before calling the dealer ***

I know this is very fustrating to you vert owners that are having issues, but GM is working on it.
From the wording it looks like this letter will be sent to all owners, not just those with problems. I'm one of the lucky ones that has had no problems with my top (yet). Based on the experience of other members who seem to have had endless problems once they let anyone touch their tops, I'd be reluctant to bring mine in for these preventative measures.

That's great and all, but until that letter is signed and reaches my mail box, it still doesn't do a whole lot for me.

Two ways to look at that;

Negatives: it sounds like the same fixes (as pointed out) which will cure nothing

Positives: its an admission in writing...that could be priceless down the road. You've also got to figure; GM can't give a blanket letter to ALL vert owners saying "you're tops screwed, bring it in and we'll drop $5000 per car to completely replace it..." EVERY single vert owner would be demanding a new top; even if there's nothing wrong... however; I gotta hope (pray) that those of us with significant problems will be taken care of properly...

Fingers crossed. Regardless; this is a huge leap in the right direction

This process seems to be what I was told by the GM reps ( of course not on record).
1) document problem
2) For rub marks do tape and bracket trim TSB.
3) For water management failure replace with new design water management TSB
4) For fifth Bow failure replace fifth bow by TSB
5) If fifth bow fails again and run marks still visible, replace entire mechanics, canvas, and water management with current system on production line.
Doesn't look like they are going to just jump to step 5 until step 4 fails a few times.
As I have said before, I believe in communications with the GM quality people that this is the true fix. Still not sure all of changes that have been made to the tops on the production line right now.

1- (and a direct quote) "GM ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM"

2- There IS a permanent fix being tested NOW.

3- They are trying to special order the parts needed to apply this fix to my car asap (squeaky wheel gets the grease)

4- they WILL offer a documented, extended warranty for my top once fixed

5- All of the above will be put into a binding (on their part) arbitrary agreement authored by the BBB and my case will remain open with GM during the duration if my extended warranty

A-MEN!!!!!!!!!

I have the inside scoop, just read a bullitin from G.M. that they will start mailing letters to 29,500 convertible owners on April 13,for a fix,

Mine is fine so far. I Don't want any dealers to work on it after reading all the horror stories.

i brought my car in and had the top replaced for rub marks last week. after reading about all these problems, i'm wishing i didn't. i haven't had any problems yet, but then again i haven't dropped the top since the repairs were done.
here's my question: has anyone who has had a top replacement NOT had issues? or did i screw myself by bringing it in?

I am wondering if mine is included......built 8-11? So far the only issue that I have had is the 'v' marks when it's down for a time. I don't have excess noise or wet floors.

As the weather warms up and the top gets used more, I'll be watching.

Does anyone have a clue what the cutoff is for VIN's or build dates?

Well, I was told the complete fix was on the line as of February of this year. I would think anything before that would be included.

I would be interested in that as well. My build date is 8-11 and like you I just have the v marks, mind you I do get wind noise.

Got em on my new one

Well, they are ever so faint and pictures won't show them yet but I've got the rub marks coming in now.

Build date 12/15/2011.

Pointed them out to my tech today. I'm going to play the wait and see game now. As they get worse, I'll be back on the bandwagon with pictures and videos.

GDamnit!!!

To top it all off, I come home, turn on the T.V. and Hard Rock Casino is advertising Camaro Convertible giveaway. Maybe I'll just go park in front .. tell my story and go play blackjack. Put my car up for bids.

grrr...

bad day all around I guess.
