They might be doing the permanent fix. The temporary fix only takes about half an hour

I'd already be there...GO GET YOUR CAR! It's a voluntary recall and they can fix it with duct tape. I'd pick some up on my way if I were you since they don't have any...

it's 4:13pm EDT have the service manager order the tape now via FED EX Next day delivery you will have it by noon tomorrow and tell them you will take her home tomorrow but I would Sign the papers tonight and have them move the car into a service bay.

This is what I would do if my 5th Gen arrived.

Based on the sales person's response, I'd go down and finalize the paperwork tonight. They won't be able to sell the car out from under you that way.

Since they already have a showroom v6 model, have them store your car away from the showroom (gated service lot, locked in the service building, wherever). If someone specifically comes in and asks about the difference in external appearances between an SS and the LS/LT models, then they can show them yours. There really isn't a compelling reason for them to put both cars on the showroom floor.

Dude... I saw an SS on the showroom floor for 3 days...

NO WAY I would let anyone sit in and mess with the interior.

The sales folks kept saying how many times they had to wipe the finger prints off.

I almost had a heart attach watching one guy look under the hood with a big belt buckle on.

YOUR PAPERWORK DEFINITELY should be done by now... then it's yours and if they do talk you into keeping it you can jerk it out from under them at anytime things don't look right on one of your 1000 drive bys.

Guess they had to come clean and let you know it would be on the showroom floor since that's pretty hard to hide. Amazing they actually thought you would not question a couple extra days of prep. Good on you.

Totally up to you... might be fun to show your car off like that... just make sure it's yours first.

Once I told him the Recall should only take a few minutes, he then stated, "well, we would like to put it on the showroom floor for a day or two so other interested customers can actually see an SS".

What are your thoughts?

Dealer has been great so far; what should I do?

Well, seeing that we both have the same dealer I'm curious. If I did it I would want the terms in writing and much more definitive than a "day or two". On the other hand I would be none too pleased that they tried to me. I'm really disappointed that they did that.

NOPE

Its a floor model if its in the showroom and not in your driveway. Floor models get $ off for it for their buyers.
Tell them, "sorry I'd love to, but got special plans for the next few days need the car."

Cut a deal on your price. Bring it down so much a day and they can use it on their showroom.

If it were me, I'd go get the car. The fact that he didn't come clean to you up front speaks volumes about his integrity.
