I hope it's faster then the SS , and not like the ZL1 which has very similar SS times (from what I've read)

Remember the SEMA show early last year when they had the SSX there? On the display there was a poster of the wheels which said they were made from Z28 blanks. Well those same wheels are now on the ZL1 and soon to be on the 1LE.
I think the performace stuff developed for the gen5 was called Z28 before they knew what they were doing with the marketing.

My thought is and maybe it's a very big stretch.... But Z28 will be the rebuttal to the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500...... Maybe just wishful thinking lol

The Z/28 name was changed very late in the game to ZL1. My company makes parts for the auto industy, so Im pretty versed in tool and die costs. Something as simple as changing that Z/28 engraving to to ZL1 in all the molds would be a fairly costly process. Seeing as how it has 0 effect on the performance of the part and its not exactly visible, I could see that engineering change being turned down.

The Camaro team knows what Z/28 needs to be. Which is exactly why I think you could see every special edition imaginable on this platform, but you wont see a Z/28. Now....about that lightweight alpha chassis
