I'm looking for a very detailed set of instructions with pics of all the needed items and detailed instructions with pics of how it all goes together and what nut and bolt is used where. There is already a video of how to remove the old fascia so all I would need it how to put the ZL1 fascia together and bolt it and the new parts to the car.

@Mr Draco:

Hi!!. I'm working on the same task.

Here is what I have learned so far.

A very nice member of the forum (I believe it was ACR) answered one of my PM's on this subject and explained that it will do me no good to purchase the OEM ZL1 front fascia since it has a central rise that matches the original OEM ZL1 engine hood, but does not match the standard SS hood.

There will be some visible missalignment.

The options are either go for the full boat and also buy the OEM ZL1 hood pluis inserts which is a very expensive proposition. Another forum member graciously posted here the actual costs of all the parts for the hood. You are looking at something around three grand and a half!!

I have sent PM to other members who installed perfect looking ZL1 replicas that match their standard SS hoods asking for their suppliers. I'm waiting to read what they have to say.

I also got a quotation from a gentleman of this forum who manufactures a front fascia which is based on the front fascia of "BUMBLEBEE" in the second TRANSFORMERS movie and which looks a lot like the ZL1.

I found a company in the US that is distributing a hood that duplicates the ZL1 yet the insert is not made in authentic carbon fiber. However is less than half the cost of the real ZL1 hood. I have bought parts from them in the past for my FIREBIRD so I now they are reliable business and quality wise.

If you are interested in this info send me a PM and I will be glad to share what I have found so far in this project.

Safe driving,

With all do respect stop PM people who have not installed one bumper on this car, Yes if you dont want to run the ZL1 hood your body shop needs to move the line's on the bumper , there are nice hoods out there for a lot less the the OEM ZL1 hoods but its not as good IMO, On this thread there is more then 50 members that have done the mod, so we know it works.

Out of curiosity has anyone actual bought the "ebay" zl1 hood and checked to see if the cowl lines up with the zl1 fascia?

What does the fascia and stock hood look like before moving the lines? Do you have a pic?

You can look at my pictures. Im still running the stock hood. Honestly, its not noticeable until you're looking for it. Family members can't notice it until really looking for it to be honest.
