Go to dealer. Sign papers. Get in car. Drive away. Fast!

also just remember, it isn't YOUR car until after you sign all paperwork AND drive it off the lot onto a public road. Even if you go to said dealership and sign all paperwork if you dont "cross the curb" in it the deal can still be reversed.

I would say hell NO! It's your car they can pay you. I don't think they (dealer)are all that great come on they lied to you about keeping the car for a few days. Only do it if there is something for you in the deal.

Facts

1.dealers get one car for showroom.

2.dealers future with gm vehicles is sketchy, with whole bankruptcy lingering. thus, they need to sell and get commitments for the camaro since in most cases they wont be seeing any more to sell for a couple months.
3.salesperson not forthcoming with actual intent.

4.more than not, dealership salespeople were told to sell showroom Camaro asap.

5.you have been waiting a long time for that Camaro.

6.they had there Camaro to show off, now its gone.

My OPINION.

After the deceit and the long wait for your car, only an incentive to keep it there would be worthwhile.

A woman friend pointed this aspect out about this situation.

This Camaro is like the woman you will be married to for life in the next two days.

Are you going to say, "Hey, go have some fun with my woman, but in two days give her back because we will be married for life."

Would allow a bunch of guys to touch, feel, bump, drive, or sit on your woman for two days?

I don't think so.

Besides, what kind of man would allow this to happen to his woman?

Run, don't walk down to your dealer this very second and pick up your Camaro.

Honestly I think this statement goes for all new camaro buyers, but in reality I would want mine roped off during the week at the dealership and I would want it for the weekend, as far as scratches go, I would be worried as hell about them, but more worried about parking lots or driveway with people pulling over and not caring as much because noone is watching. atleast during the week they could have it roped off and just make them that deal until they receive their SS model. that gives you all the weekend cruising and them a car to display. If someone really wanted to see an SS then they would come back during the week.

Plus you know it would always be cleaned by them.

Ropes. They can look but nobody gets to touch. No way.

If it were me though, I'd be driving it off the lot ASAP.

I say let the dealer have it for a few days as long as no one sits in it.

Everyone here says the dealer is a sleaze for lying. You do realize he could have NOT CALLED at all? Just kept the car on the floor for a few days and then called?

If your cool with your dealership I would let them keep mine. The dealership I am working with wouldn't even let me touch the door I had to squint through the glare on the glass to try and see the inside. Thanks to this buyer for letting his car stay for a couple of days allowed me to see a Camaro for the first time in person and solidify my decision on getting one.

no way ...do you want people leaving fingerprints on your care and getting in it...if he wanted to show it off he should have just lied to you and told you it wasn't coming for a few days...but then again i can understand how having the car there will generate sales for them...its a tough call

make sure the car will be yours and not sold off and if he wants to keep it there ...tell him to knock down the price

but i personally would not want people touching my car....they should have ordered another one for the showroom

UPDATE ON CAR

OK, I went in and bought the car tonight.
All is well and the dealer is great.
The salesman unfortunately was taking a guess at the reason to leave the car for a few days. They did not have all of the items to perform the permanent fix for the recall.

The service MGR ordered the parts today and expects them in tomorrow or Wed at the latest. They will complete the repair and PDI in the same day.

My car will not be sat in by anyone. Actually, the svc mgr told his folks if anyone drives the car he will burn their house down.

They took the front plate bracket out of the car to ensure no one installs it.
Dealer will not install decals but I did allow them to put a license plate bracket on the rear with their name on it.

I got to play with the car, start it up, etc.
All is well - - the car is mine. Purchased and registered!!

Deal went great! Finance mgr showed me the extra options but did not press to sell them. I did not purchase any extra warranties, just accessories: CAI, Scorch yellow interior, fuel door, engine cover and rear cargo mat.

Here are a few photos - not that great, sorry.
