What is expected is quarter mile times in the 11.8-12.0 range, or that is what I would expect.
You mentioned cars 'this heavy', being heavy is understood. Normal Camaro SS are also heavy, maybe Chevy can knock off a hundred pounds or so, but it won't come in weighing like a Vette. If Chevy advertised 580 hp, then it needs facts and figures to back it up with. Maybe you don't perceive it as being advertised as a quarter mile drag king, but the perception of others is also what counts.[/QUOTE] ..power to weight ratio is better(than say a stock LS3), and w/ all the gadgetry to get it out of the hole where the rolling mass can utilize it most. But to say that it was built(STOCK form) to dominate 1/4 strips is/was ludicrous, and if you wholehearted bought into that belief, there's a bridge for sale in Death Valley w/ your name on it...don't get me wrong, it's still an awesome car that deserves in its rightful category.

breathe......the autos have already run 12.0; haven't seen R/T, C/D or Hot Rod break 12 with auto or stick; it will happen; just like a few of the SS's had killer (relative) times.
-any 1/4 mile with 2.0 60' shouldn't be taken seriously (esp with this car). -The auto will shift faster than the stick -Chevy has already said an experience driver can launch faster than their launch control; but for the average joe who wants great consistancy, there is your crutch -In the current race to regain muscle prowess between the manufacturers, no one will 'dominate' the 1/4 for long. Of course a '13 designed to beat a '12 will do a little better; much like a '14 will do the same to a '13....keep griping...but we, the customer can only continue to benefit from the competition -Watch what folks say when they start hitting the first oil change (much like the SS....) ....breathe...its gonna get better, Ford's gonna build to compete, Chevy will respond.....Dodge will try to keep up....each will have their diehard fans... ....and all the arm-chair quarterbacks will continue to hate....but drool when they see the lucky few driving by in a new ZL-1 or GT-500, or Boss, ETC..... Hennessy, thanks for inciting riot.....good humor....

Perhaps you should read this from Chevy.com. Performance is mentioned several times, so perhaps Chevy can also purchase that bridge. http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro-zl1-sports-car/

heh heh heh ...yes..yess. It is very slow, very slow indeed, so the bosses and shelby's should be giving us a car length head start to make up for our wimpy cars...yes..yes..its fat and slow...verrry slow...nothing at all to worry about Ford brothers, you have us where you want us. We give up. We are all driving a wimpy car...yes..yes..you win, the mustang is far superior...yes in fact,, with these numbers the V6 mustang may keep up on the road race track...probably will...yess..the ZL1 is just an overpriced Camaro...yess..like a cavalier or something...yes..All of us ZL1 owners are sad and beaten...yes...aren't you glad that you didn't buy one?..yess..what a waste of money...haha..Zl1 buyers are all suckers..haha...yes..yes

How come other ZL1 owners havent chimed in? Im sure some of yall have had the car on the dyno or at the track. I drive a mustang and love the Chevy/Ford rivalry. I hate to see it come to this, meaning the ZL1 was supposed to be the GT500's competition and with those times they will have a hard time competing with a tuned 5.0 on drag radials. I want to see actual 1/4 slips. What does the car do on the back end of the 1/4?

Im not a fan boi, ive owned plenty of LS1/LT1 cars over the years. Ive been an active member on ls1tech and a few other boards forever. I would actually like to see this car perform. Thats why i asked for other owners to chime in. Im not having fun over what seems to be an obvious disappointment in the camaro camp. Rivalries are good. The Chevy/Ford rivalry is what keeps them putting out awesome cars.
