Sounds like the decisions that got GM in trouble in the first place....

If it is an SS variant and TT I'd put my bets on a 3.6 V6. Not a 3.0.

But I agree...could just be an ECO model.

If its AWD it will be viable, if not it will just be another poser sub-par Impala....just like the LS4.

Who cross shops Chevys and German luxury cars?

Think Taurus and Avalon

This is what I was thinking. I think we're seeing an ECO version of the new Impala.

It has AWD, but its only standard on the SHO. Base model is FWD only while mid trims have AWD as an $1800 option. No word on how popular it is as an option, though unless it bucks the usual trend I'd bet that AWD Tauruses represent a pretty small minority.

That's a HUGE kick in the nuts for the Impala.

IMO, this is the last Impala worthy of being an SS.

Can someone explain why the RWD 6.0 Holden Commodore Chevrolet Caprice PPV was not chosen to be an Impala SS?
Like this lucky owner..for example.

Because they plan on having 2 full size sedans on the Chevy lineup: a FWD Impala, and a RWD car (possibly with the Caprice name, possibly something else).

And why stick with FWD for the Impala? Well most people either don't care or they prefer FWD (usually citing fuel economy and better for snow, while getting a strange on their look if you mention vehicle dynamics).

Also, please keep in mind that we don't know for certain that this even is an Impala SS. Its an Impala with a covered up nose. Anything beyond that

Fen, Do you know the reason why? Seems odd since you can AWD on the Malibu.

I had the pleasure of meeting that owner and riding in his Caprice (actually wrote another article on it for GMI). It's a fine car, but if GM released it to the public they would get lynched instantly. The interior is nowhere near recently launched Chevrolets in terms of quality/materials.

The upcoming VF Commodore-based sedan will do very well as a performance sedan flagship for Chevrolet.

No AWD on Malibu either.

Honestly, probably to protect the LaCrosse AWD.
