Ive never had this happen yet...But i can guess how it feels.
I get finger prints on my car and just drives me up the wall..same with dirt...I cant see them normally...but i know its there and want it gone. Whenever i park, and whatever i park...i always open the door enough so i can SQUEEZE through, not stroll through. I dont want my door or anyone elses F'd up. I had a girl park next to my challenger last week that my friend couldnt get in. and she just sat in her car and ignored it, once he got in. she drove off...People just drive me up the wall... Shifty

Sorry this happened to you! I fully agree with and commend you on your courage to "confront" this careless individual. You definitely did the right thing in trying to ensure your Camaro stays in as good a shape as is possible, in particular, since this was of no fault of your own and, thereby, hopefully teaching this person to be more mindful and respectful of other people's property. I hope you get this cosmetic issue remedied quickly so you and your son can enjoy the convention.

If it's visible, it's bad! Some people don't realize that others like to care of their things....no matter what the things are. Sorry to hear this happened when you were obviously trying to avoid it by parking in the back of the lot. I feel your "pain" (more like a little stress), as I've had a few things done to my car by others being purposely disrespectful. Hope it's an easy and smooth process for you to get it fixed and that your son enjoys the Transformers convention! I know I would, hahaha.

Best of luck, I think you handled it right esp. given her reaction. Talk about not owning up. But you might be able to get straight cash out of her. Get an estimate from a body shop and then go back to her. If she's smart, she'll avoid the surcharge and you can avoid a Carfax! |

I dinged a co workers car one day at work. We're military, he an E4 and I'm an E6. He works for me. I was driving a family members car one day so I could check out a problem n it and I wasnt used to the long doors. I popped his door pretty good but it didnt hurt the one I was driving. No one saw me and I pulled over to another spot afterwards. I fumed about it(mad at myself) for about 20 minutes before I called and told him what I had done. I told him to get an estimate for repairs and let me know, I'd pay for it out of pocket. His estimate average from 3 places was $250 so I gave him cash a couple weeks later. He never did get it fixed but my concience is clear.

Parking away from others in a lot conveys a message that the owner of the car is concerned about damage and appearance. Sociopaths who drive beaters get their jollies and intense satisfaction to fuk-up your car with a nice door crease. Basically there is no place to safely leave your car. |

Funny how someone that would try and minimize the importance of the cosmetic damages to your car and how you should react to their carelessness by stating "Oh! Thats all" ...............be the same person in such a hurry to begin her gym session, because she's either narcistic about her own appearance or reactive enough to someones statements regarding her appearance. Go figure~and further proof that beauty is only skin deep....................if at all.

i'll commend you for how you handled that. One thing folks can't say about me, is that I dont take care of my things. Generally, they're in as good (or better) shape when I sell them than when I get them! Good luck on your repair!

I used to think that way, I sold my 2010 with almost 20k, but she had tons of chips in the bumper, black so the swirls where always appearing. Had to get some door dings fixed, and so on... The same week I bought my 2012 45th, I bought a 97 camry from a guy at work for a grand. I love driving the beater to work, I am there for 24 hours at a time, so now I dont have to worry about hail, vandals, ect. My 45th can stay nice and clean in the garage for my time off. Plus I can be more aggressive on the mods( headers, cam) and not worry about pissing my neighbors off daily when I leave at 6am. I wont go back to having my camaro as a dd, its just so much easier this way!

I never bought my camaro with the intention of using it as a DD, but if my beater dies, i probably will. won't trade it in either because I have a 4DS for the family trips. never drove that to work either, well, maybe occasionally, and it has 57k miles on it in 5 years. wont put quite that many on the camaro cause it will never go on vacations or family trips. |
