Its also neat how you get to intuitively be able to tell where they are (in front or behind), from the audible warnings and signal strength meter. |

While there may be a Federal Law regarding the use of radar/laser jammers, state and local police do not enforce Federal Laws. FBI and the appropriate federal agencies are responsible for enforcing federal statutes. There are many state and local laws that are similar to fed laws, and they will give you a ticket for a State or local violation. If you've been unfortunate to have gotten a ticket, the violation you are cited for is the state/local code, not a Federal statute.

Risk of getting caught? minimal to none. PS - cops in NY don't need any speed detection device other than their eyes to write you a ticket for 1180d. So jamming their radar is only partially effective. They can write on a visual estimation of speed. Or get mad and write you for the 30 other things they typically find wrong. |

i've beaten laser twice. only because i saw the cop standing beside his patrol car poinint something at me before he pulled the trigger.
lately though i just drive about 10mph over because the odds of getting at ticket at those speeds are very low in the southeast. |

Nothing beats obeying the law for avoiding a violation. You can accomplish that by driving slow, or by writing to your legislator to compete with all the people who write wanting the limit to be lower...guess who currently makes more of a stink?
I'd like to hear from folks with integrated radar detectors. Anyone here have one? Plans for putting one in a Camaro?

I'm a police officer in NY and if you really want to get someone speeding with laser or radar you'll get them. Laser you're done before the detector even knows, as long as you're doing it right. With the new radars they are off (not emitting) until you want them to and as soon as you un-lock the radar it has your speed at the same time your detector knows. Like I said though that's if you really want them. Laser's are used more so on highways and in dense traffic because you can pull a single vehicle out of a group of vehicles. The radar is more backwoods low traffic situations. Probably 95% of the time though you're going to run into a police officer who isn't hunting speeders and just drives around with the radar on picking off the 17 year old kid driving to fast on his way home from school, in that case the radar detector will do just fine. I believe Laser Detectors are over rated and a waste of money though if they're using a laser they're hunting and you're the game. P.S. I would never write a respectable person in a 2010 Camaro a ticket it'd probably end like this....
