You dont believe a 12.9 @ 110 is a drivers race for the Camaro????? I wont even get into what I see everytime I goto the track here. Lets just say, alot of SS Camaros with "bad" drivers I guess. But its all good, I know what the Camaro is capable of with a good driver and its a drivers race with a good driver in the 6.1L SRT8.
Most of the stock pre-392 srt challengers at my local track are running 13.2-13.5. I haven't seen many chargers though, but I would assume they are similar. I'd say that's close to what a stock ss runs, although with a good run I'd say the ss has a little advantage

Yup, Drivers race with slight edge to the SS. It's funny that most people get a fast car and think they will get the same 1/4 mile times as the Pro's but never ran their car at a track, It's truly a eye opening experience.

The 6 speed manual challenger does run a little slower than the auto due to the torque management.

According to C&D it has a 4274 lb curb weight.

Thats puts a power -to-weight-ratio for the charger at 4274/425= 10.06 lb per hp
versus 3888/426= 9.12 for the Camaro. A big advantage for the SS but I can see it being a driver's race if the SS driver doesnt pay attention. The power to weight gap closes up a bit when comparing the A6 SS to the charger. I wish I had both, a 4-door family muscle car and a 2-door weekend cruiser. Both are bad-ass cars.

I agree with these numbers except for the weight.... Mine weighed 4,153 and dodge claims 4.168 but not enough to make any real difference.

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 4.8 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 11.2 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 19.9 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 5.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.2 sec @ 109 mph
Top speed (redline limited): 173 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 168 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.90 g

I like how the people who defend the 5.0s saying they would walk a SS and wouldn't be a drivers race are the same guys defending a 6.1 srt8 as being a drivers race to the SS.

The edge goes to the SS but they are so close its still a drivers race. Thats what ive been saying all along. If you catch an SRT8 thats heat soaked then I say SS all the way. The 6.1L runs like a pig when its heat sokaed.

on the street anything can happen. At the track ehhh. In my old 05 Goat I inched out a few 6.1 chargers and got inched out by a few of'em. At the track I flat rapped them, probably because I frequently visited and new to expect the horrible track prep and was prepared for the high elevation, so I wasnt butt hurt with a low-mid 13 sec time slip. best I ever seen a 6.1 chally/charger both run was a 13.5x never lower. Best for the SS was a 13.8 and even a few low 14's. camaro had a higher trap by 3-4mph cant remember exact sense it has been a while. After driven the ss (never on the track... I wouldnt trust my best friend to take my car down a track and id never ask to run anybodys) They seemed to have comparable power to a stock LS2 GTO with the edge to the LS3 equipped camaro ofcourse. My personal opinion is that the Camaro would beat the 6.1 hemi equiped car ESPECIALLY at higher speeds due to the nature of the LS engines screaming up top. Thats where I always pulled ahead in my goat, about 80mph+ on the track and street. If the race exceeded 100mph it would just get worse in my opinion. But to each their own, the cars are very close and could go either way. With equal drivers (not likely to happen) the ss will win every time, if the ss driver isnt on par, hes gonna be butt-hurt. Just my .02
