Damn my SS has a leak
My 2010 SS with 5180 miles has an oil leak. After a few trips to the dealer and some dye they told me that my rear main seal is bad and that they have had this problem on a few SS's. Had to leave the car for the week hopefully they will get it fixed.

Had the same problem on the 5.3 in our 2007 Avalanche at about 30,000 miles. Was going through a quart of oil in about 500 miles. GM fixed it, but then it was still using, about a quart every 1000 miles. They had a TSB to put some type of tray in the oil pan. Since they have done that its been fine.

Here is just one thread on the leak issues. Mine is included. They leak from the main seal, the oil cooler and from the pan.

I just got the call form the dealer letting me know that they fixed it. Now i'm going to go pick it up then take it out for a ride. Thanks for letting me know that this is a common problem and hopefully the dealer fixed it correctly(thank god I got the 6 year warranty). Ps my car is vin#4583 and I guess that the early cars the rear main seal was defective but who knows. C Ya - I'm going out for a ride!
