You can do it yourself fairly easily.

Two plugs and one qt. Couldn't be a simpler service. $199 is felony criminal.

I've noticed this is a common thread through the automotive service business. Oil changes are priced low because of competition, but as soon as you do something else they go crazy and you have to search and haggle.
Like when I got my trailing arms and toe-links installed my go-to place quoted me 6 hours of labor @ $100/hr, and the guy I can haggle with no longer works there. So I went around the corner to Midas just out of curiousity, and the guy there knew exactly what I was doing, and why, and had just done the same job on a CTS-V. He quoted me $150 total. You just have to shop around and find the right place. |

I just hate dealing with old oil so I let jiffy lube do it but I watch them like a hawk, bring my own fluids/washers/filters, and I bring a torque wrench in case they don't have one and I make sure they don't over-torque anything. I was a helicopter mechanic, but now I'm a software developer, so I know how to do things but never want to lol.

My only problem with Jiffy Lube is that you don't get a full oil change. The block still has oil in it from driving there and they don't let the car sit long enough for all the oil to leave the pan.

They readjusted their quote to $140. Still outrageous but I have to use my $100 by the 30th. Doing it myself would be about $25 like you said Nessal so I'm really only spending $15 more than that. In my mind its $15 for the luxury of not having to do it myself, I'm comfortable with that.

Dealer did mine two weeks ago for $90 bucks. Kinda wish I'd tried to do it myself.
