I've got 10k miles on my VR intake in my SS and have had absolutely ZERO issues with the way they designed the radiator mounting. Honestly, looking the images linked from the other thread, I'll keep with the clean simple look that VR designed instead. You don't even notice it and the radiator is stable as it was stock.

I am also waiting and trying to decide between the Vararam and the New Era and am concerned over issues with both designs. From what I have read on here, the New Era design doesn't work well on otherwise stock cars.... i.e, have not been tuned. I am not planning on building a race car here, just want to add the sharper look of an OTR CAI and maybe get a few more HP without getting a headache in the process. But I do like the way the black powdercoated New Era looks as well as the fact that it's made of metal and not plastic. As for the Vararam, I have also read what others have said about the poor workmanship and especially the design of the radiator mounts. However, as the owner of two 4th Gen WS6 TA's, the Vararam closely resembles what I see when I pop the hoods on them, and I really like that look.
So I guess in the end, it comes down to a waiting game still to see what Vararam offers up for the 2012. My car will be here this coming week tho, so I am getting anxious to pull the trigger and am running low on the

I'm still not sold on either one yet, but that new era seems better. I'm not one for wasting $350+ on a part that is junk, even if they turn around and replace it for free. But I also dont know about the new era. It being right over the radiator, it's gonna get hot easily and a hot intake isn't too good. But I am still liking that new era more...

Vararam radiator mounting
This guy just spent over $300.00 for a CAI and already has to modify it to correct a design flaw. With the money he will probably spend the correct it, he could have had a New Era OTR.
And here we have a brand new C.A.I. customer contemplating adding a aluminum strip to the front of his C.A.I to correct a fitment problem.

A couple of other members have also posted here about this same fitment issue.

I have the Vararam for my V8, its not poorly made, its just made of plastic. I have had it for a few weeks now installed and ran several runs at the strip with it installed without any problems at all. I believe its a good product, its just not the eye candy bling that most guys want to be showing off under thier hoods. But to me its function over form that matters.
I have never heard anyone who owns one say that its a POS or anything close to that. If plastic scares anyone then I suggest you clean out most of the parts on your cars from the factory.

It won't win any beauty contests, but it is not a POS. It looks more like a hardcore racing intake. All business. Unfortunely I'm wanting better cosmetics, only because I recently dressed up my engine bay.

Forgive me if this is a repost. From Vararam...
2012 Camaro Caramo Vararam intake update (4-20-12):

Vararam is pleased to report that our test units have almost completed their 12,000 mile test cycle.

All Vararam products must pass this basic test cycle before production can begin.
Vararam products are always tested to failure in varying conditions, while running out to a minimum of 12,000 miles .
This allows us to check for part fatigue in a wider range of conditions. This also ensures that we provide the highest quality product available with OEM reliability while delivering that legendary Vararam real world performance.

For the 2012 Camaro we have been in the unusual position of creating two versions for the same application. Both have proven to offer similar performance.

We are currently fine tuning the "look" and installation of each system.
Each system has been developed for performance, drivability ,ease of installation and show presentation.

The systems are being put head to head against each other every day. The unit that is consistently the best , will go into production.

We appreciate our customers patience while we wrap up our final tests.

We will update you again, later next week with a more specific time, we are very close at this point. We may be able to post up some pictures at that time.

VR Tech
Hope that "show presentation" part is the deal. I'll replace mine if it looks good. And VARARAM, if you're listening...

... please make the gigantic VR logo a removeable sticker. I'm sure you like it, but many customers do not care for it. Thanks....

He's not thinking about adding anything. If you actually read the thread it was another person who suggested it but it's not needed as the op simply did not install it correctly as has been pointed out several times in that thread.

I disagree !!!

If you actual read the thread the C.A.I. has been pointed out by at least 3 members as having a fitment issue.

You read it how you want to. I read it how I want to.

VR used my 2010 V6 as one of their primary development cars for that intake. Between my normal driving habits and the 3 weeks I left the car with them for more in-depth work, we put 10k miles on my car in 3 months. Some of us just like to drive...VR Tech included.

All I know is I love mine. Mine is even one of the first ones. I will sell it "cheap" if they come out with a newer version that flows even better than this one. If it doesn't flow better, then I will keep mine.
