USAR2LT --

First - if you have a stock exhaust system - it passes all federal and local noise drive-by standards.

Second - as much as this person sounds like a pain - they are still your neighbor -so be judicioius in what you say to them.

Third - I would take the note to the manager of the facility and ask him/her to put it on file - just in case there are 'issues' in the future.........

Thanks for your service to our country! Will we be seeing you on the 4th???

Make a copy of the note and write "TL; DR" on it and put it in their mailbox.

LAST UPDATE (unless I get keyed).

My wife took the Camaro and stopped by the community manager's office to let the manager hear the car start up, as well as make sure he sees we comply with the printed-up county and city codes.

"Oh, you folks with the yellow new car? We got that complaint some time ago. I already stopped by and checked out your car. No problems. Hey, if you want to park it at my place for the weekend, I'll take care of that car for you!"

Schwing!

I think we can put this to bed and let Mister Blowhard neighbor stew. I have to believe at this point that his "childhood friend/chief of police" for our city would even tell him to sit on it and rotate.

I see no need to even engage the neighbor at this point...well, other than my standard politeness if I ever see him.

I also leave early for work (5:30am) and when I drive one of my Camaros I really try to leave the neighborhood quietly...of course I have NO MUFFLERS... Never had a complaint, of course the average age of my neighbors is probably 35 and they all love my cars!

Too bad I'm not closer...would be fun to show your neighbor what their missing

LOL what does this place do during a thunderstorm? Send nature a complaint?

Some people. I live right next to a daycare and I get to listen to kids (Stupid young girls) run around screaming at the top of their lungs like there is a god damn rape going on. But im not going to complain, because I could turn up my stereo or put a pillow on my head

Ordinance allows for +15 dbl over required 45 to 55 dbl for sounds not exceeding 1 minute in duration during a one hour period, so thats 60 to 70 dbl for up to a minute, how long does it take to start and leave your property? You can sit there and rev engine for 50 seconds and burn rubber and be out of sound meter range in 60 seconds.

I hate people like that. I wish they would man up and talk in person instead of leaving letters or something.

He drives a Chevrolet truck of some type and has a motorcycle - loud one too.

I've yet to get my knickers in a twist over his motorcycle for that matter.

He's just some alpha male wannabe who had a life that didn't turn out as he wished and prefers taking easy pot shots at me. That's cool, I have broad shoulders.

I might operate the nursing home he lives in someday.

Sweet, sweet justice that would be....

Now that you know the noise limits, you can research aftermarket exhausts that are louder, but still within limits!...Tell your neighbor,"Thanks to you, I realized how quiet my stock mufflers are! I can get louder ones now!"...lol

Just tell the S.O.B. to turn off his hearing aids until 6 am.

He sounds like a guy that complains about me every time I drive to my friend's house. The guy threatened to write my plates down like he was going to do something. Turns out he used to race mustang's back in the day, I think he's just a little jealous about always being in the slow car. Seriously though, I think some people have nothing better to do than complain about others.

Your continued politeness would probably infuriate him immensely, especially when you tell him to go pound sand in the nicest possible way.
