camaros can really hold their value!

i just bought a 2012 camaro LS base-model last month for $24k. today, i just checked to see how much 2010 and 2011 base model camaros are going for used and i made an odd discovery.

carmax.com has used 2011 v6 camaros for as much, if not more, than the cars cost brand new. for example, there is a completely base model, no upgrades at all, 2011 camaro LS, manual transmission with 26k miles and nearly bald rear tires selling for $24,995 on carmax right now. that car is identical to the brand new camaro i paid 24k for last month and it actually costs more. even the 2010s are selling for only 1-4k less than they were new, depending on the amount of miles.

i have also seen a 2012 base model camaro at my local honda dealership for $26k and it has about 8k miles on it. i was told the owner got $22,500 for it on trade-in.

so i guess our beautiful cars hold their values better than anything else on the market? i have only seen something like this once before and that was when hybrid cars really became popular and people were paying new prices for used hybrids......are the camaros the new hybrids when it comes to holding their value???

I noticed that when I got my 2011 LS. I was originally looking at a 2010 but with the GM discounts and GM loyalty discount it was a better deal to get a new 2011. The 2010 was more than the 2011.
Here is what mine is worth according to NADA bone stock with no mods.

I just got a card from the local dealership wanting to buy mine for more than I paid at another dealership haha. Some big sale going on. With rebates and everything, I was 8k ahead hahaha if only it really worked like that.

Your cars worth what an individual or dealer is willing to buy. If you think your going to get kbb or nada pricing you'll be sadly disappointed.

I had my 2010 2ss RS with 5,000 miles listed on here and Craigslist last summer for 29,500 and didn't get a single person interested. I ended trading it in for something I could use in the snow reliably

Apparently gen 4 can't. Kinda shocked I haven't had any serious offers on it yet...

First year desirable cars tend to hold their value because people that didnt or couldnt buy new have created a demand for them. It wont last.

Camaro's will always be a popular car and there will always be a buyer if your price is what someone is willing to pay, thats the short of it.

Just a guess, he probably owed on another car before the Camaro and the dealer rolled what he owed into the Loan for the Camaro. NEVER DO THAT!!!!

I paid 26k for my 2ss/RS so that means it depreciated 4-3k per year and added 1k per 10k miles (20k miles). As long as you sell it in 3 more months you won't have to worry about losing out, after the 2013's expect 2ss 2010's to sell for the price of a used high mileage LT model.

The lack of a spare tire option makes me wary to the true value since fix-a-flat= dead tire. When 2013's roll out tack on another 4-3k of depreciation IMHO.
