How come every week or so someone starts a thread like this, and it goes absolutely nowhere. People, do whatever you want to your car.

It's not a real big deal until the poser gets caught. I was at a car show the other day and I was talking with a fellow SS owner over near my car. When we went over to look at his, I immediately noticed he had put 427 badges on his fenders. Our conversation came to a quick end. I think it's just rediculous to do something like that.

I don't know how old you are, but I'll give you a perfect example of deceptive badging.
Last summer I went to a car show, looking for a "muscle car". I spotted this sweet looking '67 GTO for sale. The asking price was within my budget. After "kicking the tires" and looking for signs of "bondo", I stood there thinking about it. A guy standing next to me elbowed me and said "You realize that is not a GTO? It's a Tempest with GTO badging." Back in those days, Pontiac made the base model, called a Tempest. The GTO was just a upgraded option package. Different motor, different hood, different grill, different taillights, different interior, and different badging. The owner wasn't around, but it would have been interesting to see if he would have been honest and told me it was a Tempest, and not a true GTO. Of course, the resale value is higher on a GTO than on a Tempest. I have since learned that true car enthusiasts know how to read VIN numbers. VIN numbers don't lie. |

My car is black with white accents, and I have a 2SS/RS..So the red badging looked plain silly. I could really care less if the badge is "claiming less" being white because I still have all the stuff the the car came with, just changed the color on the badge.

I agree 100% with you OP. I was at a car show a few weeks ago, and I see a black camaro roll in, with RS badges everywhere.Floor mats, trunk, front, back both sides I carefully inspect this "RS" and conclude its not an RS at all. He had new aftermarket rims so it was kinda hard to tell at first, but I saw his halogen headlights barley thru his phantom grill. So, I asked him about it and said "its an LS I just rebadged it because now it looks like an RS" I just rolled my eyes and walked away. What an Idiot.

So then it's a bad thing to put F16 on the side of my Camaro?

When did it become taboo anyway? Classic cars are called "Clones" if they do it, now its posing....not that I agree or disagree with it.
