ss=7k hit first year out the box. From there depreciation is more import like compared to the piss poor domestic resale numbers.

I bought my '10 2SS RS for $28k from a Ford dealer (when shopping for mustangs). Clean trade in on it is $26k on kbb. So its a fair holder of value IMO thus far.
The kicker to my car was it had a CAI ($400), Magnaflow cat back ($1,700), Hurst Short throw ($200), and the Passport 9500ci ($1,600). While I would not of personally spent $1600 on the radar detector, I would of bought a V1 or something for it. I had full intentions of buying the other mods for any car I bought. So I got $3,900 of saved money. I'll never get that back out of the car though unless I pull it all off and trade it in then sell the mods.

V6 resale value is more than the V8's because of gas prices.. only enthusiasts will buy V8s now.

Just because Carmax is asking $26k doesn't mean that's what it will sell for.
There are a LOT of not only stupid people who buy cars, but smart people who don't understand finance and/or aren't very good at negotiating a sale. I've bought plenty of used cars from dealerships before. They usually have an advertised price. And then there's an "internet" price. Sometimes a "sale" price, or "here, come in and test drive this POS and receive $500 off!" coupons. Bullshit. All of it. I'd walk in and offer them trade-low retail on that car, and if they weren't willing to come close to it or work with me, no hard feelings, but also no deal. Money talks and I usually already have cash and/or my own financing lined up so they know I'm ready to pay, today, on that car. That's also the difference between walking into a dealership with the exact car you want to buy in mind, and walking in and asking to be sold any car. Know what the car you want is worth and pay nothing more. |

simple math puts it at around 9. less if the ttl put it into the $40k mark... not that it's any of our business.

Used cars values have been elevated since '08. It has less to do w/ Camaro, more to do w/ a poor economy.

I paid $35,995, MSRP, through workbench order for 2010 2SSRS at my dealership back in Feb 2010. Took it in last November to see how much I can get out of it trade in to maybe be able trade in for a ZL1, was told $30,000. They asked what those markings were inside the engine compartment and told them that they were the signatures of Al Openhiser, Jeff Bucknum, F-Bodfather and the rest, they re-evaluated and said they can give $32,000 if I had photographic evidence. Kinda cool and exciting on how much it held it's value. Didn't trade in though, it's a keeper!

I recently got 28,000 for my 2010 2ss rs 6 speed with 5,000 miles. I got offers anywhere from 25-28,000 from different dealers. I got the car I traded for 2% under invoice so I got a good deal on my new car.
A lot of the trade in game is they'll give you a good trade in price but only sell you the new car at sticker.. I tried selling privately no one bit at 29,000 on Craigslist or on here last year. It was nice and easy the dealer paid my vehicle off took care of everything and I drove out an hour later with a new car. |
