Just visisted my dealership...wow it's getting crazy

Well I just went down to my dealership to get all my paperwork in order for when my car arrives. He told me something funny but a little disturbing.
I guess now the car is showing up on their website and they have been receiving about 3 to 5 calls for the last few days about the car. One person even offered to by the car right now for well over the MSRP. Thank goodness my dealership General manager is an honorable guy. He turned them down and said he would be happy to help then when the 2013's are available.

Has anyone else had something like this happen before they picked up their ZL-1?

Good to hear about the way your dealer is treating you! I'm sure you will be a repeat customer from now on, if you have not been already. You will have that perma grin very soon .

Unfortunately car salesmen as a whole. Are about as useless as tits on a boar. There are a few that arent and they actually post on this site. I went to a local dealership wanting to buy a 45th aniversary edition and since it wasnt on there lot they didnt want to get off their ass and get me squared away so i could buy it. Which brings me to my point. If it aint on there lot they dont care to try and sell it. You know how many dealers if would of taken every allocation for a zl1 they would of sold every one. DUH!

This happens more than you think. Word spreads quickly now with the internet, unfortunately with coveted cars they have the upper hand cause it's non-local people that will buy those cars for the most part.

Well I have been on top of this like a fat kid on a cup cake. I have bought 5 cars from this dealership, so they really don't want to lose a buyer. I'm just glad they're not trying to get a market adjustment out of the car.

That happend to me as well, glad my dealer is a buddy. Funnier part is one of the guys that called on the car asked if I would sell it to him. He came in to see the car and was looking at it when I got there to pick her up.

I had my dealer agree to MSRP in writing when I placed my order and gave my deposit. Dealer told me a couple months later he would be okay with it if I wanted to back out 'cause he had about 6 persons on a list that were willing to pay up to 10k over MSRP for the car. I smiled and told him I'd be happy to accept the car when it arrived. He said that's fine you have it in writing and we will honor our agreement.

Most dealer websites are connected to GM and it will automatically update their inventory based on status... It happens all the time, but none the less it sounds like you're well taken care of anyway.

Happened to me in 09. Basterd came in and offered 5k over sticker the day my car came in but mine was already a sold order. My salesman was great about it but the general manager was a d***

If some one really offered 20 grand why didn't you turn around and sell it? .... That would be crazy not to. I'd have flipped it crazy fast lol. That's just jumped you into a new Z06 or used ZR1!
