Yikes.... got cold up there! Brian managed to have the rain clouds dump on me going through the pass to Laramie Thursday - but just little enough to not wash the bugs caught on the way. I sent a message to Kirk inquiring about today's carshow.

RPS Triple Carbon Clutch went in and so far seems great. Engagement is much higher and definitely gets full disengagement. After stacking the clutch assembly, installing the transmission was alot easier since the thickness of the pressure plate is about 1" less than the ZR1.

FYI.... post I made on the Camaro Club of the Rockies Facebook event page

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Camaro...9968?sk=events

Just spoke with Kirk DeJac and he will be posting something too. Today's car show at Zookies (5/19/12) is being canceled for weather and rescheduled for same time next Saturday (5/26/12) since the 10 day forcast shows much more favorable conditions. He said if things clear up or anyone wants to come by to hang out and see friends, we're all welcome. If you're coming by anyway... you might want to make a post here so others know.

Garth. Glad to see the Camaeo is doing well. The RPS Triple disk is the Elete of the clutches ! It was nice to install in Ahmeds Vette.

Joes P-Trim 1400tq Twin Disk went it without issues, and I gotta say I love this clutch!! Let me say that again, it's a great clutch !!!! Very Streetable and grabs perfectly. Talked to SPEC at length stating a 500 mile break in is unfeasable on joes car. Jeremy at SPEC gave me a specific break in to avoid clutch chatter, and after some break in procedures and only 30 miles on the clock, I'm ready to go WOT on the dyno.

The clutch start engages at 55% up the pedal, and is fulley engaged at 80%, indacating that it's fulley disengaged beyond 1/2 petal at high rpm shifts, very important for quick shifts and proper shift without placing harm on your syncros of the tranny..

Who else loves Horse Power ???!!!

Any idea what the total assembly wieght was for the SPEC? (flywheel/clutch/pressure plate)

ZR1 wieghed 56 lbs and RPS was 34 lbs... 22 lbs lighter. Not sure what the OEM setup wieght is - would be curious to know if anyone has one out to wiegh. FYI, ZR1 setup looked to be in great shape..... just a little chatter marking that could easily be sanded off, no burns and haven't measured disks compared to new, but looked great. The green slave boot was nice and clean, along with the inside of the housing. I'm confident I had a disengagement problem - the ZR1 would begin to engage about 1 inch off the floor....... probably less on the WOT shifts. Hopefully I caught the problem early enough to save the tranny syncros. Also installed the MTI racing transmission mount.... OEM one is pretty soft.

Here's a link that will probably make the ZR1 and OEM clutches work properly by modifying the amount of fluid the clutch master cylinder flows. Hendrix specifically said why risk their clutch if it already proven to work with the OEM slave with upgraded TOB. More results should hopefully be posted soon. Dan Howard is installing one in his LPE/Pedders car (the road course car from Cfest) and he has the ZR1 - should prove to be interesting.

Does break in really matter for a dyno? Seems like WOT shifts would be more of the issue. BTW, I'm really impressed with the pedal effort of the RPS triple.... just a little more than stock, so shouldn't tax the limits of the hydraulic clutch system.

it is always recommended to break in a new clutch even before hitting the dyno. usually its only 150-200 miles for the break in but they tell you 500-1000miles to make sure you actually break in the clutch in the streets (not the highway). thats what I have been told by a vendor before. so a good 150-200 miles in the city is enough but I usually do a 1000miles just to be 100% sure.

on my vette the RPS was heavier than the LS9 by at least 20% maybe they are different on the camaros. One of the worst decisions I have made. an expensive one too, but oh well. hopefully after all the trouble it will be worth it.

I was going to comment that nHRA clutches don't have that many plates. Is that a flex hose I see on your exhaust . smart idea!

I haven't found a single person not happy with the Street Slayer RPS Billet Triple Carbon (made specifically for the Camaro) on a 5th Gen Camaro yet, other than someone who installed one made for the Vette. RPS's website even directs Camaro owners to Hendrix since they have the Camaro product rights. Must be something different. I was a bit concerned when I heard of yours and the problems with some of the Vettes on the Corvette forum - made me start rethinking and researching. Thanks for info BTW
