I own an LS3 Camaro and an LS3 Corvette.

They are totally different cars. I really enjoy the Camaro, but no matter how you measure performance, the Corvette wins. It even gets (quite a bit) better mileage. The bottom line is that the Camaro is much bigger and heavier than the Corvette, and this is by evident behind the wheel.

The othe big difference between my cars is the manual transmission. The Corvette shifts much smoother and the clutch is better. Several times since owning the Camaro, I have missed a shift, and sometimes it just feels "crunchy". This never happens in the Corvette (or any of the other dozen manual transmission cars I've owned in the last 30 years). I am hoping that the Camaro's transmission loosens up a bit after I put some more miles on it. So far, I have only about 4000 miles on the Camaro.

That said, the Camaro is an awesome car and I love it. And it's flat out bargain. At twice the price, the Corvette should be better.

Totally different class of cars.

I owned 2 C's and 1 C6 the C6 WILL BLOW ANY STOCK SS OUT OF THE WATER HANDS DOW. The C5's would be a fairly even challenge. But i think the C5's would just win by a nose.

Not true. I raced a C6. I think it was an 06 and I killed the guy. The funny thing was he started it, and then was feeling stupid afterwards.

Are you modded?

I think if I did CAI, exhaust and a trans tune, my SS should be able to hang with a C6 bone stock. Stock vs stock the Camaro just has too much "junk in the trunk" to hang with a C6 vette. Plus the SS ( speaking about my AT ) just feels so restricted when you're trying to gun it off the line or pass on the e-way. On a good note, the SS feels more planted at high speeds than the vette. Especially if the roads aren't perfect.

I'd better test drive the SS.

Any more stories, please post.
I came inches away from buying an 06 GTO around the time I bought my SS. It was a beautiful car and highly and tastefully modded. However, the owner wanted way more than it was worth and wouldn't budge.

As nice as this goat was, it pales in comparison to a LS3 camaro in every way. I'm very glad I didn't give in and held out.

a money pit? as in what repairs?

and why bc its a tiptronic or however you spell it. every car doesn't have to be manual you know this camaro is manual and its fun to drive but after a while it gets blah when u multitask a lot while driving (not safe i know but I'm not here for a safely lecture) and annoying in traffic

meh at best from a roll? an 09 is 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and a 2013 is i believe 0-60 in 2.7. your kidding yourself

I am surprised at how many people think an SS Camaro can run with or beat an LS2 C6...

An LS2 C6 vette has a better power/weight ratio than an LS3 Camaro. That being said, a poorly driven vette can still loose to a better driven Camaro. I remember back in the day I was driving my brand new '85 VW GTI and this guy tried to race me in his Toyota Supra. He was short shifting while I was taking it to 6k, and I walked him good, but shouldn't have.

Very true... that's the case for anyone. My 230hp Camaro could walk a 2010 Camaro SS if a meteor struck the fifthgen...

Speaking of which, here's a turbocharged van beating a C6 ZR1... perfect example of not knowing how to drive!
