Help! Tire Pressure Monitoring System is confused

My TPMS is confusing my passenger side tires. When I put air in my front tire today, the TPMS said the PSI went up in the back tire. ( Yes, I checked it with a regular gage) I tried making the the car relearn the the PSI, but it didn't work. Anybody know what the problem is? Or, do I need to take it to a dealer and, if so, what will it cost?

Thanks!

Have you rotated your wheels lately? I think the dealer has to help it relearn where the frt and rear and left to right.......at least that is the way it was on my 2011 2ss when I got the new wheels.

TPMS setting

This is from my 2010 owner's manual:

The TPMS matching process is
outlined below:
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch to
ON/RUN with the engine off.
3. Go to the TPM vehicle
information screen on the DIC.
See
Driver Information Center
(DIC) on page 4-27
. Press set to
relearn the sensors. The horn
sounds twice to signal the
receiver is in relearn mode and
Tire Learning Active message
displays on the DIC screen.
4. Start with the driver side
front tire.
5. Remove the valve cap from
the valve stem. Activate the
TPMS sensor by increasing or
decreasing the tire’s air pressure
for 10 seconds, or until a horn
chirp sounds. The horn chirp,
which can take up to 30 seconds
to sound, confirms that the TPMS
sensor identification code has
been matched to this tire position.
6. Proceed to the passenger
side front tire, and repeat
the procedure in Step 5.
7. Proceed to the passenger
side rear tire, and repeat
the procedure in Step 5.
8. Proceed to the driver side rear
tire, and repeat the procedure
in Step 5.
9. After hearing the confirming horn
chirp, for the driver side rear tire,
the horn sounds two more times
to signal the tire learning mode is
no longer active. Turn the ignition

switch to LOCK/OFF.
10. Set all four tires to the
recommended air pressure
level as indicated on the tire
and loading information label.
11. Put the valve caps back on the
valve stems.
The tires air pressure will not
appear on the screen until you start
driving the vehicle.

You're lucky!

I went to discount tire to let them use their wand but for some reason the car never took a liking to the new tire pressures. Actual tire psi is 37 but dic says 33 after the relearn. He said he could trick the dic but it would become a liability issue.

Can Chevy fix this for me? Anybody?

I think it's common for the TPMS to read lower than the actual pressure. I had my tires filled to 38# yesterday and immediately after the DIC showed 33, 34, 33, and 35#.

There is also differences between guages, so I don't think you're ever going to find perfect agreement between the TPMS and guages.

At 'My 5': that's a bummer. Why would they do that? It just a little annoying I guess.

I just put new wheels, tires and TPMS and mine read perfect after relearn procedure in manual. I did have to drive it first to get it exact though. Right after relearn it showed one at only 22. After driving like manual says it was exactly the same. One thing though. It seemed like it took a lot of air released to learn it. Manual says it could take up to 30 seconds of letting air out. So be patient and wait for the beep. I counted each one out and one even took 35 secs. Good luck.
