So they are making a "Rockford Files" movie with Vince Vaughn.

Should the Camaro replace his gold Firebird? Or do they just not make the car a big part of the character.

Jim Rockford J-turns baby!!!!!!

Or do they set it in the period of the TV show and get a Firebird?

Product Placement time...depending on the script and likely box office...would make it a GREAT placement for that "next step" Gen-5 Camaro.

Remember the result of "Smokey and the Bandit"??? Black 'n Gold Trans Ams everywhere!

An aside: In '75, GMC produced a limited number of Black 'n Gold 1/2-ton pickups called "Gentleman Jim". After the success of "Rockford Files", there was at least one Dealer Group who resurrected the name/decals for Maroon 'n Silver GMCs, like the one Rocky and Jim drove, in the latter '70s.

Needs to be current. I'd use a Camaro RS/SS...gold of course.

At first I thought Vince Vaughn?, but after thinking back Jim was a lot like Vince's characters. Who would play Angel? . Remember Lance?

Oh yes the J-turns!!!

No one should dis or confuse the gold leaf used on the Gibb's burgundy Camaros back in the day with a screaming chicken. I liked the Trans Am less the chicken.

Those J turns were Rockford Turns midway through the series and a good time after the series ended.

Lingenfelter makes a well done version of the 5th Gen Firebird as does HPP. Chevrolet would do well to place the Camaro in Rockford's hands, but they may do just as well while the Firebird tradition is preserved with a 5th Gen based Firebird.

I read an article in one of the auto rags in th last month that was an interview with James Garner. He said they decided on the blue collar version of the Bird because Jim Rockford couldn't afford a Trans Am. The show bought three identical cars each year because Pontiac would not give them free vehicles. I like that because I can't even begin to spell frea let alone understand what it means.

So is anyone complaining that the GT500 is pulling huge HP and still managing 15/24 mpg? 24 highway is pretty impressive considering that is about what an SS gets.

It's funny, the arguing is only over the HP and it's supposed quickness. The MPG is the more impressive supposed number.
