Resurecting an old thread. Has Scosche worked out the bugs yet?

Does that big screen do anything besides display the stick figure with arrows pointing at it? For example, does it actually go into the car configuration menu like the stock radio?

I went with the Alpine Perfect F.I.T. Kit

I did the install myself. No problems so far, everything works. I just need to tweak the sound to get it the way I like it. The Alpine Kit itself (not the HU) is a little too big cause I can't see the top 2 gauges of the gauge pack. But the touch screen works great and it matches the HU. I put on the Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap to dress it up a bit.

If you purchase off crutchfield you can get the alpine one for $200. Scosche I've only seen for 350ish and Metra anywhere between 240 and 399.

Dude, that vinyl wrap is bad ass. tough to do? I haven't seen anyone else do that yet and most of the worries I had were about the color of the kits themselves.

I'm not very stereo savy. I did my stereo in my 91 Blazer years ago. Is this something I should take to a pro for $150 or roll the dice with my skillz you thing?

Thanks, You can't really tell from the pics that I took, but there are a lot of flaws/mistakes that I made with the CF wrap especially on the bottom sides. Its not hard to do but you need patience and probably another set of hands to do a good job. I will end up taking the wrap off and redoing it later. The stereo install wasn't hard also. Everything you need including the plug & play harnesses are included with the kit and the stereo if you buy them together (except the OnStar interface module). I'm not that stereo savy myself but I was able to do it all myself which I also added the Rear View Camera.

I never liked the LCD ones since they go out straight and cover up the top 2 gauges...
And too many issues with those 2...
So I went with Metra. NO issues, everything works..

I have owned both and both are nice. The Scosche I my personnel favorite, but it usually will run you at least a hundred dollars more to have all the features. It worked better for my system, I bypassed all the factory stereo equipment, so the built in speaker was nice. Also the touch screen looks sweet.

Is there a way to know what firmware is installed in the kit before it is installed?

Is anyone using the stock sat antenna with an XM module? Is that even possible?

Can the PDIM be modded to be used with an aftermarket radio?

Does anyone know if the any of the top 3 dash kits allow integration with the factory backup camera or must you install an aftermarket one? Or does installing a dash kit mess with the rearview mirror backup camera in any way?

Also, does installing a dash kit eliminate the backup camera tones?

Answering about scosche
Needs to be powered to know what firmware version
I didnt use XM so cant answer that
I installed with Kenwood9990HD. Yes i use the factory USB connection on my kenwood. Since this radio requires a diff cable for Ipod no it does not play Ipod/Iphone. i do however use it for images and music on a stick. i guess use of factory USB would be on a radio by radio basis.
