This. Not trying to be harsh in any way, but maybe your excitement over the new car is coming off as boasting? Some people might take it that way if you're always talking about it. I'd just mention it to them and ask them what gives?

Almost all of my close friends are long-time friends from childhood and things didn't change when I got a new Camaro. However, at this point (we're 26/27) they've all purchased homes, gotten married, had kids... etc and that's not their priority anyway.

Even my brother that had a 77' Z28 and a 80' Z28 has acted funny about my Gen5 Camaro,Really!!! So my wife and I have started our own version of DDD (Diners,Drive-ins and Dives). The only rule is that it has to be outside metro Denver. It is a blast driving our slot car over a mountain pass for 2 hours just to get a greasy hamburger.

I can see where you are coming from OP. Being 23 and first owning a 08 G8 GT and now a 2012 camaro ss I see a lot of resentment from others.

Ive actually had an older gentleman ask me why I think i deserve the Camaro while he drives a beater van.

Friends have kind of pushed me to the side and people have given me odd looks when pulling up in it.

I still have some pretty good friends tho and it has helped me from wasting time on people who dont deserve it.

Your comment seems a bit petty. Give him a break. He is just learning that some people will change how they act around you when you own a 5th Gen Camaro. Heck, this car changes us too. C5 seems like the perfect place to check in to see if your expreience is unique or typical. Just sayin'.

If you feel they are truly friends, talk to them about your observations & how you feel about your car. If they really are good friends you should be able to work it out. If not, well, don't sweat it, You have us & like others have said, seek out other Camaro enthusiasts in your area who will "get it". Enjoy your permagrin inducing machine!

I had a couple of people really give me hell when I got my Camaro. I wasn't going out bragging about it or anything but when I mentioned I bought it, two so-called friends of mine wrinkled their noses and said "So? Who cares?" then if I showed up in it they'd be really asshole-ish to me.

One finally admitted she was jealous and apologized. The other turned out to be an evil witch, and I don't kick it with her anymore. Again-- haters gonna hate.

Just stay the same as you were w/out it.

That's what they're watching for. They'll overanalyze small things you do and related to the car.

While it may seem ackward, just ask one. Ask the one who will give you an honest answer. People like folks who speak what's on their mind. You'll be surprised on how issues like this can get squashed in 45 seconds.

THanks to everyone for the replies. I like the insight. And to clear things up, no I haven't been bragging or anything. I've been doing the same thing. Workin hard, partyin harder. Yea my friends are prolly just pissed because I'm doin big thangs...while they are still loungin around like we are still in high school.
