challenger 475 hp stock??
So last night my wives lil sis was buying a used car from a dodge dealership. Went over to a Challenger to see their outrageous sticker price, and the salesman came up to me and was trying to sell me on the car lol. I quickly told him I would never buy a dodge and have a 2ss. then he tells me that the new srt 8 has 475 hp stock?! I was surprised... Is this true? and i know the car is a lot heavier but is it faster? Either way when you sit in it it feels like your driving a four door car. The dash is real low and just dose not have that race car feel.

Yep, that information is correct. So does the new Charger SRT. I almost bought one, but 4 doors would be blasphemy.

Specs list it at 470hp at 6,000 rpm, with 470 TQ at 4,200 rpm
The SRT is the top of the line Challenger, and runs very well.

I really like the challenger, I think it is as close to an old muscle car that you can get.. I love my camaro but I was literally a coin flip away from getting an 11SRT Challenger for about what I paid for my SS.. |

The only Challenger I fear is the 392.

Not really. The 392 will do about a 12.4-12.8, about same as the SS stock and the 5.0. Remember, the 392 weighs about 4200 lbs which offsets its HP advantage. Moving to a 392 made the Challenger competitive performance-wise with the SS/5.0 but not really faster than either. It's just too bad the 392 is a $50,000 car OTD.

Pretty much all 392's can hit 12.5 with a regular driver and 12.1 with a skilled shifter. The SS will loose to the 392 every time with equal drivers. I know someone posted a 12.5 stock SS time but most stock SS'es with good drivers are in 13.0-13.3 range -- not constant 12.5's

Equal driver skills, a new Chally SRT8 will smoke both a 5.0 and SS...in a straight line that is.

My wife owns a 2010 challenger srt8. Never liked it as much as my SS, but it's still a great car with good power.
