I'm keeping our local carwash in business. It's pretty bad when you are on a first name basis with the manager, who is there every morning emptying the trash, stocking the coin machines, and cleaning the mud and debris out of the stalls.

However, I was much worse about keeping it spotless, than I am now. It's just a hassle to run to the carwash a couple of times a week. IOM hides dirt really well so as long as I keep the wheels shiny, you really don't notice the brake dust all over the car. One of these days, I'll get Darin to switch out brake pads so this is no longer an issue!

I do not dive it in the rain. (if I can help it) This will keep the under body clean.
Wash it three times in 600 miles. Also waxed it 3 times in 600 miles.

Your kidding right? You have not washed it yet...bs or Bet it will not pass the junkman light test! Have not washed it yet means you have just rubbed the dirt around and into the clear creating swirls and scratches...water less wash is for a once and a while deal or after driving to a car show etc....

agreed, sure the Camaro is nice and sexy as hell, but it deserves to be driven, i know if i had one it would be driven every day and probably never parked in a garage (because my parents use both bays in theirs and i don't have one when i go to college). thats what i do with my truck, and it still looks good, just have to keep up with washing and detailing it.

When I get caught in the rain it means I will be washing it real soon, can't let dust get caught in the rain drops and then get deposited in little brown specks when the sun drys those rain drops. try to avoid having to clay bar it any more than I have to. most people think I over do it but I know it will keep my Camaro looking its best for years to come. I like having the cleanest and sharpest car in the town!!

If you're only Detail spray cleaing your car the above statement is true. If your rag is dirty after detailing it... your screwed.

my car is spotless and has no swirl marks and still has not seen water. So all you guys saying the little bit of dust that gets on the car is going to scratch it are nuts

I used to do the same thing to my IOM, after a couple months I did the light test and noticed a lot of fine directional scratches in the clear coat which matched my method of detail spray cleanups. I also did the baggie test and holy smokes, it was like sand....and I swear it felt smooth as silk to the touch.

I did the claybar and I'm polishing the fine scratches out by hand a panel at a time.

I now use Adams wash mitt, and the waffle towel for drying. I only touch the car with adams MF rags, there's nothing like them....

Lol. I love my car, but it's not a Ferrari or Lamborghini. I drive mine daily in any weather and just take care of it.

He's not interested. This thread is like 2 years old. He takes pride in not washing it, for whatever reason.
