I'm not a Mustang Fanboy. I'm still curious about the whole thing.. I also do have logic, so.. what now?

Probably not. To my discrepancies IMO. Should of left the DR at home. Fu*k testing "because we know owners will be using them"...

Bring them another day. Run the car bone stock the ENTIRE time and post up the times

I love the ZL1, would love for it to be faster COMPLETELY stock. I hate to play devil's advocate but the video only leaves room for question.
You beat me to it! I heard him say that as well. Yes, the message has clearly been muddled here.

I for one would just like Fbodfather to personally clarify for us. That will be all I need to hear!

The only reason there is controversy is because what the video and press release state look like they show different things.

In the video, they say "12 second quarter miles all day long."
In the Press Release, they say "11 second quarter miles all day long."

The video puts alot of focus on the drag radials, and a 1.69 ft is more in line with what you'd see from a drag radial.

I have the faith that Fbodfather will confirm that this was on stock tires. It would also be great to hear what the car ran on the drag radials, since they spent a bunch of time filming DR runs!

That's what I noticed too. BASICALLY no modification. Did he mean no modification or basically no modification as in tires only. Not trying to be a pessimist, but there are unanswered questions. The video doesn't make it clear it was 100% stock, but the opposite.

Do you believe that GM lied in its press release?

It was clearly stated in the press release that "engineers recently turned an 11.93-second/116-mph quarter-mile elapsed time run in a showroom-stock Camaro ZL1 ..."

If you don't believe that GM lied, then I'm not sure what your question is.

GM *might* have made an honest mistake - doesn't have to be a "lie".

The discrepancy between the video's wording and the release.. Like has been said multiple times by not only me, but many others on this very site and other outlets.

As I have also said... I'm not knocking the car one bit.. I simply would like, as many others, formal confirmation between the issues with the writing and what is clearly in the video.. That's all.

As for logic. One cannot logically self reference something as fact citation. The discrepancy between the video and the article is why we're using them against each other.. You're all saying the sky is blue, because it's blue and we're saying that the pictures show it's green.

Ya it's being tore up on most other boards as well. Not to take anything away from this awesome car but what a marketing blunder this video and press release was.

I didn't read through all the posts, but I want to settle this with my valid .02.

THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM WITH A ZL1 turning an 11.90 with stock tires with a good driver. NO PROBLEM AT ALL!

Look at what my bolt on car runs. It runs 4mph slower too. Do the math.

ZL is heavier than an SS, has different engine and drive line.. That's not a valid comparison and in no way settles anything. It's also hard to settle something you've not even fully read.

I'm not sure why you believe there is a discrepancy between the video and the press release. I don't find the content of the two mutually exclusive, I found nothing in the video stating that the ZL1 did not run in the 11s with the stock Goodyear tires, but it was explicitly stated at least twice in the press release that a completely stock ZL1 ran in the 11s:

"as engineers recently turned an 11.93-second/116-mph quarter-mile elapsed time run in a showroom-stock Camaro ZL1..."

"The 11.93-second ET in a stock ZL1 tested by the engineers wore the factory-issued Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires ..."
