Here's the heads-up on those centering springs SIXJAK:

Best way I found to access them was pulling up the front and back of the interior rubber boot. It's held in place by about 8 little rubber teets (pardon my French, but I don't know what else to call'em). If you lube them a little (you can reach them under the car), they shouldn't tear off.

Once you can see into the tunnel the shifter sits in, you can reach the bolts with an 8mm hex bit w/extension. Simply unscrew and remove the springs/bolts. Then you can slide the shifter out the bottom like the video!

It would be helpful to have someone under the car when re-securing the cover. You have to line up the teets, then go under the car to pull them back thru.

Have fun!!

The hardest part was releasing the springs. If I were to do it agin,I would unscrew the 2 allen-head bolts that retain the springs. Other than that,it went real smooth. Obviously easier with a lift.

Ordered mine today after reading this post yesterday!
Does it come with good instructions and or is there a good DIY how to?
I live in a condo and no ramps so thinking to drop off at friends shop. Want to make sure they know how. So I'm asking the experts!

Can't wait for all my stuff

Nope not yet. Yesterday's rain screwed everything over. I think ima gonna wait and see what comes this week and see what else I can put on while I'm installing the short throw. My BC Racing coilovers are on back order :/ I really need to get my car aligned too front left camber is somehow way off. I just put some Nitto Motivas a couple of weeks ago. Don't want to screw them up too bad.

If you call Hurst nicely they will send you one for free if you provide a recipe from when you bought the shifter. They sent me a white ball with the correct shift pattern. It rules.

It comes with instructs, but a picture's worth a thousand words. Hurst's install video is on YouTube- have them review it a couple times, and let'em know to stop and come in from the top for the springs before they try to pull the old shifter out.

You'll love it!

And if you do get tired of the retro-ball- there's lots of other ways to go:

The instructions that came with it are very vague about releasing the springs on the v6.

Love that pistol grip! Mine came with the V* pattern even thow I specifivally asked for the v6. Did n;t care if I had to pat extra just wanted it so I would not have to wait! I just emailed Tracy to see what to do and I will call Hurst up in few.
I like the look of the retro but also the pistol grip! Any preference\pros\cons to either one?

Thanks!

In the drivetrain sponsor section ( http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=95 ) we have a thread with different shift knobs you can take a look at.
