Well, If I was Dr. Phil, I would tell you that the real reason you're so much involved in this thread is because you fear to meet the ZL1 next to you at the strip and since you didn't BASICALY not modify your Car but added about all there is to add to your SS, you have no way to back out of this fight!
The Day is gonna come were you will have to face the facts and be a man about it. Even if you loose, it doesn't matter since you're a real Bowtie Lover.
P.S Keep the faith you have a chance! you know that racing is a lot more then numbers!

LET'S go to a commercial: We'll come back with HumanWiki's reaction after the Break!

Nice..... I honestly hope they did run 11s on the OEM tire.. That would be outstanding... I want to line up next to a ZL1 on the track as well... It'll be something new to race. The standard stuff is just getting boring... I really don't have an issue with the thing.. I just don't sit with conflicting data from the same source.. I do the same thing in my job.. If I see an error light on a server but all the logs say it's healthy, well, I don't just say the light is wrong and move on.. I dig until I figure out what the reason for the light being illuminated is.. I would hope that most people would be more demanding of data that agrees, otherwise one opens themselves to way too much marketing hype or propaganda..

And.. I did get left in the dust this past weekend by a busted up looking T/A out at Road America.. Thing was right up on my tail... I also left a Porsche in the dust in the straight that I'm sure he wasn't too happy about.

I just want to see the thing resolved one way or another..

Can anyone see the 60' times when the show the close up of the slips in the video? That might give a hint to what tires were run on the 11 second passes.

the low trap speeds are a bit alarming IMO. I thought surely by now the hero runs would have picked up and be noticeably faster. 116mph seems to be the most realistic trap speed to expect for them.

Sheesh guys the ZL1 is geared for the track first, drag strip second. On the track it should whip a 2012 GT500. 2013 we will have to wait and see. But those Magna shocks and huge front tire is not there for the drag strip, why are so many (especially Ford fans) under appreciating the TOTAL performance this car was design to do. No its not a 1 trick pony ( pardon the pun)

1.69~1

11.965~ @ 117.2~

on the one on bottom..

1.7~~
11.9~ @ 116.~~

on the top one --- but, that one's really hard to read.

That's pretty damn good if they're not running DRs.

Exactly. If you want a car for the strip get a copo. Or if your a mustang fan go to one of those forums. I waited a long time for this car and find this site extremely helpful and useful but have grown tired of coming across this thread in multiple fashions. There will always be something faster out there that is the beauty of it. It forces car manufacturers to be better every year. Enjoy it before the cafe standards take hold.

Maybe so with the automatic. However they still spin and the sticks really do even with the launch control. It's still going to require a high level of skill to get the best times.

LOOK: the issue is NOT about the times, the use of this car as purely a drag car, or the ability to enjoy the car. The issue IS about what the TRUTH is, which is still up for grabs.

As far as I see it, you can run a high 11 sec 1/4 mile on stock tires as they said but will take an almost perfect launch and optimal track conditions. Im sure the majority of people's runs will be in low 12's. Either way the ZL1 can be considered an 11 sec car

Well the ZL1 has a better lunch control then the SS. Even with the Stick it's still going to be easier if you use those settings.
The SS stick has a big gap in time slip when you're not using the Launch control but it's a difficult and inconsistent. In my experience.

This is an interesting debate. Really, both sides have some great points. I think the important thing to remember is this ET is not even close to out of the question. A bone stock zl1 WILL run an 11.9X or faster at some point if this isn't the one to do it, I have no doubt. On the other hand, a 116mph trap speed is pretty dang slow for an 11.9 ET in a zl1 on street tires and the 60' does look like a 1.6X. The confusion is an unfortunate side effect of poor execution of the press release. My question is, if this run was on stock F1s, what did they run on drags?
