I could care less what this magazine or that one wrote. I can tell you the GM guys ran on OEM GYs and DRs. There was little difference in the runs. The cars were INCREDIBLY CONSISTENT. As Tony said in the video they could do this all day long. As owners and drivers get more seat time the ETs will be more impressive.
Thanks Pete!

I agree.

Like many of us have said.. DRs had 0 business being used or shown in a video talking about an OEM ZL1 breaking in to 11s.. It's very highly debated and marketing should have known better. That's the source of all of it..
12's all day = 12.0 ALL day by majority of new owners. Sub 12's by those who become more familiar with their car.

I don't think Tony and Gordon are being untruthful. If you get proof, let us know!

Til then I remain in Tony and Gordons camp.

The physics highly suggest you are correct sir! But, the performance of the ZL1 is nothing to sneeze at regardless.

It was run with an experienced driver.
Like I said,It will happen. They will go faster then this with just tires. I know your a Mustang guy and are looking for anything you can to be negative but be patient it will happen.
BTW I'm a Mustang guy also. I have owned over 60 of them and own 6 right now.But I have also learned over the years that there are other cool cars out there also once you take off your blinders.

There are a lot of experienced drag racers on this site, so I ask the question. Have you or anyone you know ever had a sub-1.7 60ft time on any factory equipped radial tire?

My take is that GM ran that 11.93 on the Goodyears, but the time slip with that 60ft time was one of the many runs they made on the drag radials.

I understand the excitement, as GM is offering a factory Camaro that can hit 11's right from the factory. Ford guys had the same level of enthusiasm back in 2010 when Evan Smith hit high 11's on stock rubber in a 2010 GT500.

No. (But I'm a member of the Dark Side) - The best I ever got on stock rubber at the track was a 2.1. That came with the stock 18" Goodyears. With DR's (NT05R's) I can now stick a 1.8 consistently on 18's - but that took practice. I can nail a 1.6 with (MT's) on 15's.

Yeah like I said before, my hat is off to anyone who can cut a 1.69 60' time on a street tire.

I don't know, I can't really prove it either way, I can either take Chevy's word for it or accuse them of lying. I do know that the two fastest stock Z06s on street tires from my corvette forum cut 1.70 and 1.77 60' times. Another guy in the top 5 fast list pulled a 1.68 60' on stock tires... so it is possible just not common.

Yes. And a low 12 sec run on DR's. It was an automatic. Folks here cried foul and said that something was wrong and pointed to the dyno as "proof."

Hennessey can drive cars. The best I have seen a stock ZL1 run supports their numbers. Saw it again last night. I trust my own eyes. No way no how a totally stock ZL1 runs high 11's on stock tires. I'm not taking anything away from its performance - but I am from claims by GM marketing folks in a controlled test environment.

It is obvious to me that the the ZL1 hit it out of the park. So much so that heards of mustang guys feel the need to run in here and bash it! I have never been on a mustang site, much less become a member just to bash their car! I really do not understand the need to bash a car you don't own. Guess what folks, there will always be a car that is faster than yours. Unless you are the current land speed record holder somebody out there has a faster car than you. Why does that seem to bother folks.

Did you see how that dyno chart looked? There was a problem with that car. Every other dyno chart posted after that looked nothing like the Hennessey one.

Not true at all. Most are here because GM's top brass started thumping his chest saying how much faster the ZL1 was than the GT 500. He issued the challenge. He called out the GT 500. We are here to answer the challenge. It has nothing to do with having the need to "bash" anything." We respect the competition and understand that competition mankes both better. Ask yourself this - would GM have even produced the ZL1 if the Shelby GT 500 had not been in the market place? Probably NOT! Would the '13 GT 500 be as bad as it is without the ZL1 - DEFINATELY NOT! When they FINALLY do go head to head - we shall see who is right. Both will perform well. I'm betting the GT 500 is faster in a straight line and around the track. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly admit it. And guess what? It will change NOTHING. Both will still be awesome cars.
