I have a dove tail and want strips to go front to back if anyone has info on that. Haven't seen stripes to go over the dove tail.

If youre planning on vinyl instead of paint, send a PM to "SSTG". He can make that for you.

Hello,
What's the procedure to take the factory stripes off? Can I do that by hand patiently? Or do I need special tools?

Just park the car in the sun for an hour or so and then catch a corner of the stripe with a fingernail or maybe a plastic spreader, like a bondo spreader, to get it started. They will peel up. Just gotta pull at an angle and keep pulling. You'll need a glue residue remover when you're all done....best done while out of the sun at that point. Probably need to follow that with a good buff to take care of the shadow effects of the stripes having been on. Should take no more than an hour.

Good luck!

+1 A heat gun would help if the sun isn't cooperating. Just don't set it to damaging hot.

What do you think looks good on a RJT camaro, gloss black rally stripes or matte black?

Sure the shadow effect goes away completely as if the stripes have never bene on?

Personally, Paint stripper looks best on RJT, but that's just me. lol

Stripes are way too subjective. You should find some pics of people's cars with both and then decide. There's always option 1.

It should. If they've been on since day one, you may notice a difference in the paint though depending on color, as some colors are more susceptible to fading from the sun and elements, and the stripes helped to protect that. It can happen.

Yes they will go away, on my Rally Yellow you sould see them for a day or so then they were gone. even before they were gon they were so faint that you had to know it had stripes on it before to even notice by looking closely.

After many months of following the posts here I finally decided to get my stripes painted on. Thanks to all of you who have posted here as you gave me many ideas to ponder before I made my final decision.

another suggestion that worked for me using this procedure is once try not to just use your fingers when pulling. Use the heel of your hand against the stripe and your fingers to hold on to it. Do this as close to the edge of the stripe that is still attached to the car as it is coming loose. Reposition your grip often to keep close to the peel point. And most of all do it slowly to keep from ripping the stripe and having to start over. Mine had been on for 2 and a half years and came off fairly easily and in one piece.
