Besides, it'll be one more reason to "pop" for the Z28 when it arrives...for it will surely have the 305s...

Standard size Pirelli's are $975 for the set.
ZL1 tires are $1750 for the set. 1LE tires are $1710 for the set. ZL1 305 sized rears are about 20 bucks more than the 285's. For 40 bucks, I'd rather of had the 305's on my 1LE. I guess that's the point of my thread

GS doesn't have MRC standard, you have to add it. Standard suspension is Z06 spec shocks and sways. Mine has MRC however, and I'll tell any of you guys in the market for a car w/ it as an option...GET IT.

I would expect some kind of negative effect on the performance if you went with the 305s. It wouldn't be worth it to me for the " looks". Buy a 1LE, put them on and let us know how it turns out, might not be too bad.

So we are talking about $735 more for 1LE tires over SS tires or almost double? |

no worries, I can just buy a set of 4 305's, put 2 on, and keep the other 2 and the 2 285's I take off for my next set. Rears cost about the same as the fronts, so it's not like it's costing much for the upgrade, other than the upfront cost.[/QUOTE]
Thats funny!! That was my plan!!! ![]() Gary |

Yep. In Corvetteland, we call it the "Corvette Tax". These tires were available on the Z06 starting in MY11, now the Camaro is getting them.

One wheel does not cost thousands. They are about $630 for one wheel on the online gm parts sites. Then add $161 for shipping...
One front wheel is roughly $790 shipped to you. So 4 wheels would run you around $3,165. Expensive, yes. Thousands per wheel, no. Here's a sample order for 4 fronts with the core charge shown:
