Cost to instal headers

I just purchased some shorty headers and wanted to get a feel for installation cost. Did this cost include welding or not? Thanks you for all your replies.

Um let's see, depends on the shop. 300-700.. You should of went with long tube headers cause now and days just about every vehicle comes with shortys from factory. Plus the exhauat system already breaths fairly well fron factory.
Note, should be no welding to fit shortys they will fit were your stockers went.

My shop charged me 3 hours @ 60.00 an hour for putting on my lt's and hi-flo cats.

You can put on shortys in your garage in 1 1/2 hours and no welding required. This is taking your time.

Thanks. Tracy was one I was going to pm on a quote. Will give me a chance to see his new shop

Reason I went with shorties is I have heard they do not void warrenties where LT's do.

let's see...I just uninstalled my obx, reinstalled the SW LT, took that off and reinstalled the bbk, and took that off and replaced the stock manifold. going from one aftermarket header to another took me about 3 hours total with hand tools, but going back to stock is HELL! The factory casted manifold doesn't give you enough room. took me 5 hours to install my stocker. never again!

Why would long tube headers void your warranty? Why do you think shorties wouldn't?

The only reason anything would void your warranty is if it damages something and it can be proven that your mod did the damage, and only then will it void the warranty on the specific system it affects. Magnusson-Moss act.

LT voids warranty because they require a tune. Shorties (generally) don't throw a CEL thus not requiring a tune is my understanding. And tunes will technically void warranties.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding that you can flash the engine computer back to stock before any warranty work has to be performed. The V6 does not have a counter like the V8 so there's no way to tell if its been tuned or not. The transmission computer I have heard, DOES have the counter so as long as you're only tuning the engine, it should be okay from what I've gathered....

You're correct, DH. There is no counter on the v6. There have been a couple forum members that I believe have reflashed and gotten some warranty work done. It's just a risk you take I guess.

For me, screw the warranty. I bought the car to have fun, so my theory is... I gotta pay to play.

For the OP-- I had some awesome C5 guys help me do my header install at a mod day a couple weekends ago. Someone from the IN Camaro group said their v6ers were getting quoted $700 for LT install. Outrageous!! I never looked into prices for install since I didn't go to a shop.
