I think it's pretty darn amazing what Ford has done with the 13 GT500. 662 hp is insane, especially for the price. No doubt it will likely defeat the ZL1 in the 1/4. But remember, the ZL1 is posting sub 12 second runs BONE stock and it has only been out a month. In addition, it is an all out track warrior and will be a much more comfortable DD. With PTM, magneto suspension and all the track coolers, the ZL1 is a much better all around GT car. Yes the GT500 will probably be a little faster in the 1/4, but the few 1/10's seconds faster is not worth giving up the looks, comfort, all around performance, and engineering marvel of the ZL1.

Just because they had an outstanding 60 foot time, does NOT clearly indicate the use of DR's. |

![]() Yes, at times the logic and critical thinking skills of some who post here do appear to be underwhelming, or deliberate pot stirring. The fact that a stock ZL1 ran a 1.6981 60 foot time does not clearly indicate that that time was achieved using Drag Radials.

The same thing applies to "all around better car". That is quite subjective, at best, and will be determined by each individual owner based upon their own wants, needs, desires, etc. To each their own, and I take nothing away (nor give anything extra) to either car. |

GT500 needed a driver mod. Here are my bone stock with the stock tire GT500 runs just last week in the Florida heat and humidity.

The ZR1 has the same magnetic suspension how come the ZR1 can't even come close to matching 1.6x 60 foot time on the stock tires? Here is an article about a ZR1 pulling a 1.58 60 foot time on drag radials: http://www.lsxtv.com/news/video-stoc...-drag-radials/ So you are going to try to tell me that the ZL1 with stock tires will pull a 60 foot time close to that? If you believe that then I have some swamp land in florida to sell you. EDIT: Nice to see the ZL1 can pull better 60 foot times then almost all of the ZR1's on the drag times list (even the ones with DR's) http://www.dragtimes.com/Chevrolet--...ag-Racing.html |

No Way!!! there is no video!! No proof!!! I'm not trying to be an ass, but that is exactly what many of the other people on this forum act like when it comes to the ZL1's times. Why can't we just agree they are both great cars for a great price and drive what we personally enjoy and like. Besides, I doubt that every single GT500 or ZL1 that rolls off the line runs EXACTLY the same after broken in. Nor are all strips/conditions in the exact same condition. So we won't know until there have been several head to head runs with these cars by personal owners as it's been stated before.

The ZR1 does not have the same Magnetic Ride Control suspension as the ZL1. A 1.6981 second 60 foot time is 7.5 percent slower than a 1.58 second 60 foot time. Also, 60-foot times are dependent upon many things such as traction, gearing, launch rpm, staging depth, how hot or cold the track and tires are, track conditions, etc. If one wants to obtain a truly apples to apples comparison between a ZR1 and a ZL1, one would need to use the same driver on the same track on the same day.
